tmobile launch 3g august 1st?

The t639 is only EDGE, so the 3g network is definitely not launching Aug 1st. The first 3g phone, a rumor btw, for T-Mobile will be the Moto Q9h.
T-Mobile is *definitely* getting the Q9h? Sweet! 😁
Its pretty simple really, at my store we have a nice pamphlet from Samsung showing most of the new Samsung phones coming out this quarter. It does infact include the T639. Now this is where it gets fun, it compares all the features of all the phones. One of those comparisons is the fastest data speed on the phones, and *gasp* the T639 is listed as EDGE. Considering this information is from Samsung themselves, showing the T-Mobile branded 639, I'm pretty confident that unless they change it at the last minute, the 639 is not going to be 3g.

The FCC today has re-approved the Samsung T639. The model was originally approved as a quad-band GSM phone, however that approval was revoked and now the phone has been re-approved with WCDMA 1700 support. The US International Trade Commission (ITC) today issued a ban on the import and sale of all new 3G phones using Qualcomm's chips. The ban comes as a result of a patent dispute with Broadcom, which Qualcomm recently lost. This ban will halt the release of all new CDMA models as well as any WCDMA or HSDPA models that use Qualcomm chips. Carriers will be able to continue selling previously launched models, including replenishing stock of them. Updated: Until this dispute is settled, carriers will only be able to launch new phone models that have already been imported into the US in final versions ready for sale. Import of new phone models is banned, however, Cingular c...

First Qualcomm 3g chips are BANNED from the US. Samsung uses Qualcomm.
Second the T639 got "RE"-approved, meaning that the original design without 3g can still be built.
So one phone cannot be legally sold in the US till Qualcomm settles with Broadcomm. One phone can, hmmmm I wonder which one they will release.
Like I said, when everything is all settled, the T639 with 3g will be refit with an acronym or a similar model number. But as for the one releasing next month, it will be EDGE only, unless T-Mobile wants to be fined out the ass.
If you continue to ignore the apparent facts, then you just prove your williness to be ignorant just to have the feeling that you proved someone wrong...
