Best basic T-mobile phone
My sister is just about done with her contract with cingular and shes going to be joining T-Mobile soon (they have better service in the LA area where we live.) She wants something cheap, free if possible that will be reliable. She does like to text and picture message quite a bit and if the phone could do video I'm sure she would use it. In your opinions, what would be the best option for her to go with? I was looking at the Nokia 6103, but it has abysmally low memory.

I would say go with the Samsung Stripe its got a 1.3 mp camera bluetooth great little phone and you will get it for 50.00.

The Samsung stripe (t329) is a Great phone.. it's more than a basic phone, but its very easy to use. It's currently sold in T-Mobile Retail Stores for $29.99 (with a 2 year agreement)

the stripe doesn't have a 1.3 MP camera it's a regular VGA camera (640x480)

A really good free phone is the Nokia 6030, and now we have the 6133 which has bluetooth, video, stereo headbuds and an AWESOME screen to display video or pictures. Its is for this for a new 2 year agreement and wth the myfaves plan, its a great combination...tell what fone she decided to get...

A much better phone is the Nokia 6133, however. It does have a 1.3 mp camera and a music player, removable storage card slot, 16 million color resolution main screen, 260,000 color external screen.
Before Thursday it was $79.99, it is now $29.99 and is definitely the best bargain we have right now.

From what I understand, the battery life is lower because of the resolution of the screen being so high. It is a high-drain feature. The screen on the 6133 is just sick. It may be overkill for a cell phone, actually. The 5300 went back "down" to the 262K color screen. That's a great phone too for only $49.99 after rebate!

Motorola V195 was rated consumer reports best phone in all catergoies in the January issue, longest batter life (variable) 8 hours TALK time and 16 days standby time. It is a good basic phone with Class 1 bluetooth and Quad band. Not many people like motorola, but i can say that this phone rarely comes back, get it soon because they put it on the discontinued list to make room for UMA phones and the new RAZR and RAZR 2.
