T-Mobile Wing + T-Mobile WiFi
T-Mobile is supposedly soon to be rolling out "T-Mobile Hotspot @ Home", or something along those lines; Supposedly it's Wifi connectivity anywhere(?)...
Now my question is... If T-Mobile gets WiFi up before/near Cingular, is it possible that we could also be getting the iPhone? I highly doubt it, considering Apple has an "exclusive contract" with Cingular, but then again, as did Motorola with the Razr.
And speaking of Razrs, has anyone else checked out the Razr2? What are the chances of us getting that one first?
Even though the Wing supports WiFi, it won't work with HotSpot @ Home other than to connect to the internet via the WiFi. If you have no coverage at home you still won't, but you'll be able to surf the net with your phone. The phone has to be a UMA phone to work with the system. Check out the phones list and you'll see the Nokia 6136 and the Samsung t709. These are the only phones so far that will work with Hotspot @ Home.
So, if we use Hotspot @ Home, will we be charged an additional fee? If so, it doesn't seem like much sense...?
With the exception of the Nokia and Samsung, do you which other phones we'll be getting that work with wifi?
Don't you kind of need a land line for dsl...?
How is T-Mobile planning on selling this?
Specifically to my area HotSpot @ Home is going to open up a whole section of the state that has no coverage. We have one town that if a customer tells us that's where they live we don't even do a PCC for them because the entire town has absolutely no coverage for T-Mobile. It's like there's a huge transparent wall that repels cell service in the town. Verizon only gets 2 bars max in any given area of the town. It's bad.
Do you think a lot of people will buy into it? How would it be marketed?
To use a UMA phone on your home wifi network, it is free! Now you can pay $20 a month to have UNLIMITED calls on your Wifi network any T-mobile hotspot(and if someone has an unsecured network). It will work with exsisting wireless routers, but T-Mo is coming out with specially desinged ones that optimize battery life and signal. You will be able to seemlessly jump from wifi to wireless.
Now the $20 unlimited plan is an option. You can just use an UMA phone for perfect signal at home.
Its ment to replace a persons home phone, to be an all-in-one. One number, one phonebook, one phone.

a whole lot of good getting the exclusive on the rizr was... sarcasm
Seriously though, the Razr2 seems like it'll be a lot better than the other versions; i.e., V3i, V3maxx, V3t, Rizr...

T-Mobile "might" get the RAZR2 before Cingular/AT&T. Why? Because the first version is going to be the V8, which is a quadband GSM/EDGE phone, which has an estimated release date sometime in July. The V9, which adds HSDPA, will be released sometime in the 3rd quarter, which Cingular will probably pick up.
Also, BTW, just because there was a Cingular SIM card in ...
