New Nokias?

Dan0314

Anyone know of T-Mobile is coming out with any new Nokia phones? Possibly thinner than the 6600, but with all the features of the 6610 and more? They discontinued the 6610, which I thought was a great phone, but now Nokias are getting bigger than they used to be (namely the 6600 and 6800).

i hear that they are going to get the 6820.....i think they should focus more on buidling up the EDGE and UMTS networks before releasing new phones

It's called being cautious. Tmobile is readying EDGE, but don't count on UMTS anytime soon.

how is it being cautious? that is the ONLY thing that t mobile is lagging on...AWS and Cingular BOTH have EDGE network and BOTH are beginning to roll out UMTS networks (very very slowly...granted)

It's called being cautious in that Tmobile USA has caused Tmobile Europe a great deal of debt, and have since started climbing out of debt. Upgrading a network is expensive. Get it? Cautious? Good.

Their financial situation dictates what they do. If you knew anything about the wireless industry or what kind of financial situation Tmobile was in, you'd know this. Tmobile USA incurred a very large debt load for Tmobile Europe. As EDGE and UMTS have become more prominent (Cingular and ATTWS) Tmobile's had to take a wait and see attitude. They'll eventually get around to it for the purpose of proper competition. Stop ragging them.

That may be a bad decision on Tmo's part. Sprint was planning on not doing 3g untill EV-DV came out but Verizon and AWS are comming out with their high speed internet and quickly changed their mind. Guess we will just have to see what happeneds as we arn't the guys that make those decisions.

agreed VOX, i mean TMO has some GREAT phones with some GREAT features, they used to have FREE WAP services but that has been taken away, now if they would get EDGE or UMTS i would gladly pay the $4.99 that they charge per month for unlimited data usage

TMo has spent too much money building the GSM network to spend any money on aging technology. As soon as the GSM network is big enough, WCDMA, TDMA, CDMA, all that stuff will go away. Think VHS and DVD.
