Siemens CF62...The Perfect Successor to the V66...

In that it's possibly the cheapest feeling handset I've ever held. A good friend recently had her number ported from Sprint to Tmobile, and this is the phone she decided to go with (I know, I know...I wasn't there). When I had a chance to sit down and play with the handset, I was extremely surprised at how cheaply it felt to the hand. Cheap plasticky keys (and the annoying tendency to hit select while attempting to navigate through menus), a very light plastic exterior, and ringer volume that left me entirely unimpressed. I DID think the speaker was decent, but not great...and I thought the screen looked okay (better than my Nokia 3589). I know this phone screams "entry level", but c'mon Tmobile! You just got rid of the v66...let's not crawl...

The difference is that this phone is intended to be entry-level, while the V66 was supposedly a more advanced handset at the time. Also, it's not fair to assume that a phone is cheaply built simply because it's ultra lightweight. So far people that have bought the Siemens from me have been happy, except that the processor is terribly slow when trying to load graphics or applications. I'd say for somebody who wants an inexpensive flip phone it isn't a bad choice.

Aside from what you think of the CF62, go with the V180. MP3, a speaker you can use with the phone closed, better software, faster processor.

I don't have any argument there... I think the V180 looks like a great phone for the money, but it hasn't been out for as long as the Siemens. I'll be getting the Motorolas in at the beginning of the month, and I probably won't be carrying many of the Siemens any more.

The Motorola V180 beats the Siemens hands down. Even though they are both somewhat plasticky... the Motorola offers a bit more with a better screen in my opinion.

I never did like the Siemens (per my previous posts about it)

I think the V180 might be a good choice over the V66. The price point is pretty good too. I will be getting them in on Monday so only time will tell!

I just got mine for AWS, and they are nicer than the Siemens... I will probably just carry the Siemens prepaid kits and if somebody really wants one for postpaid they can buy it.
