Why is N&W and M2M use abuse?

just wondering why people keep saying that excessive use of mobile to mobile and nights and weeks is "abuse" or "taking advantage" of cingular? the point of having these features is so customers can USE them. no one wants overages or to have to wait days/weeks to use their phones again cuz they ran out of minutes. if cingular wants to take away your ability to upgrade at a discount, fine, but people shouldn't act like it's wrong to use these features. it's not abuse.
