6230 STOP-SHIP!
I consider The 6230 one of the best phones we carry. Other than my mmc card having an unknown password set to it I have had no problem with software lockups, frezzing, power cycling, whatever. C'mon whats goin on here!! π π π π π

no, they'll replace yours with the fixed 6230
But they said they couldn't fix the problem, that is why they discontinued it. And if they are shipping them back where are they going to get this "fixed" one?

think about it, completely discontiunued phones still have replacements. Obviously, thy're gonna stop selling defective phones to save money and figure out what the source problem is, fix it, and start reselling them. Duh. Obviously they cant replace it right now but when they hit the shelves again, that means that they're fixed and you can get the newer, better 6230. you would just do an xbm thru cingular
Actually they replace it with a moto v551.

duh. what did you think, they'll send a 6230 with problems? obviously for now they'll send another phone until they fix the problems.
They are actually not fixing the problems the phone is discontinued period. Someone had posted that if someone had problems with the device that the exchange would be done and sent a fixed 6230. I thought I point out this is not the case and currently the only substitution is the moto V551. This would not nessarly be considered general knowledge.
1. Nokia tried and they cannot fix the problem
2. If they fixed it, would it be discontinued?
3. My new phone (another 6230) is now still having the same problems.
4. Discontinued, means they won't carry it anymore and will not CONTINUE to develop and sell the phone or fix the problem.
DUH!
Thank you bluehfx for an accurate answer to my post.

Np I am sorry I am not sure how the upgrades work I work in WSC Warranty Services Center used to be XBM, I forget if I posted it but we are also now offering the Seimans S66 as a replacement. If you went through Nokia they might give you a different model I am not sure but that process takes much longer. If you have insurance you can see what claim you can do if you like, I am not sure wh...

"Effective immediately the Nokia 6230 will be discontinued until further notice due to a quality related issue that is causing the device to lock-up within a large number of our Cingular markets and channels. This problem is believed to be software related, however until a solid root cause is determined and a corrective action administered; We are enacting a βSTOP-SHIPβΒ on this product.
