Cingular voicemail help
I just switched to Cingular from Tmobile. Is there a way to adjust the amount of rings you before a call goes to voice-mail? I have a Razr phone.
thanks

the only thing you can do is set a different ringer tone to make it seem shorter

It seems like it goes too fast. By the time I get the phone out I missed the call.

I found my answer from a post on howardforums
credit goes to user mobilet68i:
On ANY GSM phone on Cingular, you can control the TIME (in seconds) that your phone will ring before it goes to VM. You can control this anytime you want and the change is immediate.
On your phone dial:
*61*+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*tt#
Where XXXXXXXXXX is your market's VM number and tt is the time in seconds you want the phone to ring for. I believe valid range is 1-30!
Example for NYC market with longest ringtime:
*61*+19084630020*11*30#
Just type it in and hit send/call and you should get some sort of confirmation message.

if you're not a techie, you can always call 611 from your phone - free call, and have customer support change it to 30 seconds, anything after that will take away your minutes.

Yes there is a very easy way. Just call customer service and ask the rep to change the ringtime on your line. You should probably have some kind of proportion in mind -- for example if you would like 2 times the number the rings then just ask the rep to double your currently loaded ringtime. We have a tool called Snooper that can change this for you quickly and with no problem. 😎
