Looks great. Does this relate to reality? There are still a lot of areas that have TDMA but not GSM coverage- areas I travel in.

I think it does relate to reality. Their national GSM footprint has increased _dramatically_ in the past six months. AT&T Wireless is going to be playing GSM catch-up, if they're not already.

This map shows just Cingular coverage, right? I know T-Mobile has coverage in the Outer Banks, NC and Cingular has a roaming agreement with them and that area is now shown as covered.

That coverage includes roaming agreements which will charge the customer roaming because it is off their network. As well its quite optimistic.

Having not yet traveled with my GSM phone, I cannot speak to the 'optimism' part. If you have questions about a specific region, stop in to visit your local Cingular rep and ask to see the actual coverage for that area.

The GSM coverage map includes roaming agreements. Customers may or may not be charged roaming, depending on their plan.

I am wildly encouraged by the new map -- the previous brochure-map, printed in August, showed what I call "spiderweb" coverage. This is a much easier sell.

That coverage does include roaming agreements and the customer is not EVER charged roaming charges ANYWHERE in the United States on a GSM Nation plan. The only way a customer gets roaming charges on a nationwide GSM plan is if they go to Canada or another country.

Its not terrible, but it isn't overly great, either. Verizon, Sprint, etc are way ahead. The only one they're kinda ahead of according to their 'future coverage' map, is AT&T Wireless... who has agreements with Cingular, and will take full advantage of that coverage on their own Mlife One Rate plan, which is like Cingular Nation.

I wasn't saying that it was better than Verizon, I was just pointint out that you were incorrect in saying that people pay roaming fees on a GSM nation if they get off the network, when in reality, they do not pay roaming.
Sprint is ahead? T-mobile is ahead? ATT? The only one I can see with better coverage is Verizon.
We'll see who has the coverage in fall 0...

Keep in mind most of that is future T-Mobile coverage and AWE coverage. Your GPRS functions probably won't work.
