Newer AT&T Question

I switched from Verizon to AT&T back in December of 2011. I love AT&T and have much better coverage than I ever did with Verizon.

One issue that I am having that I cannot get resolved since I switched from Verizon to AT&T, I keep getting these random calls, and the last 2 – 3 weeks, these calls have increased from 1 – 2 times a day to 20-40 calls per day. Some of them are from the same number(s) and some of them are not. These spammers claim I have signed up for something online, and they are calling to confirm my subscription. I have NOT signed up online for anything. I have even been told that I signed up for funeral arrangements and they are calling to get it set up. I admit the first day I started getting these calls, I answered them, however I have quit answering them and have subscribed to the Smartlimits to block these calls. Even with the smart limits, I am getting a large number of spam calls. I have contacted AT&T Customer Service, and they cannot answer my question as to why I am getting these calls.

My question is does AT&T sell their customers information; publish their Wireless Customers information on a phonebook? I have asked them to not sell my information. I never had these calls with Verizon , but have always had some weird calls since I have switched to AT&T.

I have gone to and filed a complaint.

Is there anything else I can do to stop these other than changing my phone number?
