Thinking of ditching Sprint for AT&T

I'm thinking of ditching Sprint for AT&T. Considering the Galaxy SII. Anyone know when or if AT&T will have LTE in Greenville, SC? Any feedback on the phone would also be appreciated....

ATT was just rated worst major carrier for the 2nd year running. You sure you want to switch? 😕

Love it, the Skyrocket is an amazing phone. And all I've heard is people moaning about how bad Sprint is, I get a lot of transfers from Sprint to AT&T O.o And most people that are on their way out are threatening to go to Verizon, not Sprint, so... -shrug-

Well I've had at&t before. I had no real complaints & I shouldn't have left. I had Verizon before as well. They are not all they're hyped up to be. Sprint is so far behind on technology and not even close to having LTE its not even funny.I Do you work for at&t Jellz?

I work for a company that works for a company that works for AT&T doing Sales. When I'm working I have to say nice things, but I tend to be a little more frank when I'm not. I have pretty good service with them in the central Florida area, nothing to complain about. Waiting for LTE, but I'm the patient sort so it's no big.

Ok. I live in Greenville, South Carolina but I often travel to Georgia, North Carolina, & Tennessee. I have to say AT&T's coverage is as good as Verizon.

There's LTE in Atlanta, Charlotte, and Athens, so if you visit those cities you'd have LTE coverage.

Being that I'm halfway between Atlanta & Charlotte and in an area with a lot of business & industry plus Verizon already having LTE here. Do you think that improves the odds of AT&T bringing LTE to my area?

Personally, besides NYC I think the next areas to get lit up will be in California and Florida. Could be wrong though, and Florida may just be wishful thinking. Given their record so far, it's not unlikely though since they have been lighting up weird cities (like Athens, GA for instance).

Well we have way more business & industry than Athens & several major international companies. So its not a longshot. Athens probably got it due to the university of Georgia being there.

Is this the same as I'm being offered thru the AT&T premier site because of my discount thru my job or can I use this in addition to that?

That would work on the personal site. Typically you'll get better deals on the regular site than Premier anyways, and you can always buy on the regular and just walk into a store to apply the discount. It may take a billing cycle or two to apply to the bill, but you'd save an extra $100 off the phone.

Sprint was the first to deploy an actual 4G standard in the US. Unfortunately they didn't launch your market. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for AT&T to launch LTE as they've been purposely dragging their feet in my opinion.

There are a lot of reasons to consider a particular carrier, but don't buy into AT&T being more advanced than Sprint or Verizon.

Sprint gambled on WiMax becoming the 4G standard for all. They lost. I've had Verizon. They're way overrated. Sprint's pricing is the only thing keeping them around. At&t. Faster 3G than Sprint ever dreamed of. I can bet we will have LTE here by first half of 2012. Did I forget you can talk and surf the net with AT&T. So it seems like a good move to me.

Mark this post. AT&T will not have your market live in 2012.

if within the next week, we see a news post on the front page of Phonescoop of AT&T saying they're going to have LTE in his market in December. I would laugh. XD

I would say being that this is the most heavily populated region in the state of SC and given the caliber of international business here added with already being live with 4G HSPA+, I would say its a given LTE will be here sooner than later. It will definitely be here before Sprint even deploys its first LTE market. So I don't think I'll lose by leaving the maybe network.

DO IT.... But get your upgrade and sell it and use the money to buy an international SGS II i9100 and sign up for ATT's $10 dumb phone MediaNET plan for unlimited data. I gave them the actual IMEI of both mine and my wifes i9100 and they offered the MediaNet plan.

We won't be getting LTE in Myrtle Beach until 2013 and they have never been on time. 3G is spotty here so I would never pay them $30 a month for data. I use WIFi 80% of the time.

I have not used a Carrier branded locked phone sinc...

So we're into "early summer" announcements and you're still without LTE. Tell me, did you actually switch?
