If I add a 3rd line to my account and cancel within 30 days, do I have to pay an etf and return my phone or is it none or one or the other?

If you cancel within 30 days it is expected that you return the equipment (phone) in good working conditions subject to a restocking fee where applicable.

There is no termination fee but there will be monthly recurring prorated charges including activation fee.

In the event the phone is not return the company will charge you the full retail cost of phone minus any amount you already paid for at time of acquisition.

The prorated charge is for services you used. So if you use the phone for 15 days, decide you don't like the service and cancel, you have to pay for those 15 days. The termination fee depends on the kind of phone. For most smartphones, it's $325 minus $10 for each month of service you paid for. For other phones/devices such as laptop connect cards, it's $150 minus $4 for each month you paid for.

You have to return the device that you got when you purchased the phone, you would get your money back (unless of course it was an iPhone and then if it was an iPhone you would have to pay a 10% restocking fee). Oh and by the way if you're account is billed in "Advance" (meaning you pay for the service one month in advance) you would get prorated charges and possibly one full month advanced charge but if you return the phone and cancel service you may get it credited back. Honestly the easiest way to go about this? Take the phone to an ATT store (not a Wal-Mart or a Radio Shack but...

I understand there's no ETF in the first 30 days, he just asked what the ETF is now. I assumed he meant outside the 30 days.
