No. If you cancel the line within the 30 days to the POS (point of sale) within the 30 days it's considered to be canceled with the 30 days buyers remorse period. You have to return the device that you got when you purchased the phone, you would get your money back (unless of course it was an iPhone and then if it was an iPhone you would have to pay a 10% restocking fee). Oh and by the way if you're account is billed in "Advance" (meaning you pay for the service one month in advance) you would get prorated charges and possibly one full month advanced charge but if you return the phone and cancel service you may get it credited back. Honestly the easiest way to go about this? Take the phone to an ATT store (not a Wal-Mart or a Radio Shack but an actual ATT store) and bring the device into the store with you just the way you got it.
