My folks have the Pantech Breeze II and wanted to add picture messaging for when my sisters takes pics of their kids they wanted to send them to her. Now if I understand correctly this phone can get pictures and videos fine. However upon adding the media package to her phone however when someone sent her a picture she was being charged for going on the internet. I am not sure how ATT determines that a picture sent to her is considered going on the internet

Thanks

If it's an MMS, any of the messaging packages now would cover that. If the picture was sent via email, that would be covered under data. If you were charged for data usage on a picture MMS, then you'll want to call 611 to tell them there's something wrong with your plan. Unless I'm very wrong on some point.

I was actually told by ATT that picture messaging uses the internet. I told them to block my internet so that when I accidentally hit the internet button, I wouldnt be charged and they gave me that warning.

It does use internet but they don't bill internet charges for picture messages.

If you block internet you lose access to picture messaging.

She's not actually being charged for the picture message, that's included in the texting package.

More likely is that she's accidentally connecting to the internet. Some phones are quite bad for this. The last flip phone I had would automatically start connecting to the internet if i pushed the up button from the home screen.

The Picture Message (MMS) does require the internet to be turned on for the plan for it to work. There should be no extra charge for the internet use in sending or receiving pictures. But the network uses the internet on the phone to send and receiv them. If she is being charged for sending/receiving pictures, something wrong with the setup for the phone. She could call customer care (1-800-331-0500) from another phone and have it checked out.
