What HzD increadible is saying is correct. Under the grandfathered system the date of eligibility and also the extra discounts were based on your average monthly recurring charge over a certain period of time. My guess is that it was averaged over a rolling year but they don't have the exact formula that was used in our policy manual.

If you got the $50 discount it meant that average monthly cost for that line was at least $69.

If you made a change that brought that average below $69 the discount would disappear automatically. i.e. decreasing the cost of your plan or having credit placed on your account.
