Hi all, I'm probably switching over my wife and i on Tuesday from attws and was going to go for the plan with 1100 min. for about $80. Going to upgrade the our phones the razr. Does anybody know what the total cost out the door will be? I live in Rocklin, CA. if that helps. I was thinking that the phones should be about $400 and and with all the tax and everything total bill about $450. Any idea on discounts I should look for or other breaks I might catch? I work for ameriquest and was hoping that I might get an employee discount for my wife and I. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. 😁

Really, I thought that with two phones that one was going to be cheaper? What is the cost on the national plan with 1100 minutes now with two phones? Thank you for replying. I really appreciate your help.

I can't really tell you what the plans are, I would just change it now if you want that plan. You can always change it again after the first if you see one that fits you better.

make sure you check the coverage map, sometimes the biggest carrier isn't the best choice.

But Cingular is actually your best bet 😛

I was going to bring that up.
I've had 3 customers in 2 hours yelling at me because of this.
If you're in CA, or the WEST market, you need to have completed 11 out of 12 months, or 21 out of 24 months in order to migrate with the discounted price. Otherwise, you CAN migrate, but you'll have to pay retail price for the phone.

If you want the Nation 1100 min family talk plan for $69.99 + $9.99/add line then get it before the 1st of June!

Word is the plans are changing..... The new family plan for that price is not quite as good IMHO. Can't give details though. But if you search the forum you may find details if the mods didn't delete the thread.

Thanks for the help. But on the new price plans do i have to continue to pay and extra 9.99 for another line or does it come included? i copied this and still cant make sense of it:

NEW RATE PLANS AS OF 6/01/2005

59.99 (2 lines) 850R min 5000nw unl m2m
79.99 (2 lines) 1000R min unl nw m2m
99.99 (2 lines) 2500R min unl nw m2m
149.99 (2 lines) 3500R min unl nw m2m
199.99 (2 lines) 4500R min unl nw m2m
299.99 (2 lines) 6000R min unl nw m2m

*each additional line 14.99*

6/1/05 Nation GSM Pricing

39.99 500R 5000 nw unl m2m
59.99 900R "unl nw unl m2m"
79.99 1350R
99.99 2000R
149.99 4000R
199.99 6000R

I would like the 79.99 with 2 lines. I thank you again and sorry if i sound like an idiot. 🤭

Well, you copied the wrong one. This one is not quite accurate.

Additional lines past the first two will be $14.99 each.

If you get the $69.99 plus $9.99 buy May 31st you can still add up to three more lines for the $9.99 rate.

The $79.99 plan you described above starts on 6/1/05 and it includes 2 lines.

However, you are much better off going with the current $69.99 plan and getting 1100 minutes and then paying $9.99 for the extra line. That way you would get 100 more minutes for the same amount of money.

Thank you all for your help. I think I will sign up before the first. one more question, if i do a plan through wirefly.com will i still get it as an upgrade? I know that i wont be charged for ending my contract early by going with cingular, but does that mean even if I go online to do it and not in the store? You guys have all helped tremendously, thank you again.

Are you on a family plan?

If so you have to do it in a store or through customer service. If they are seperate lines you can do it online (at our website) I believe if you did it at a 3rd party site like wirefly you would still have the ETF because you would be cancelling your account rather than migrating it. Im not sure on this so any other info would be helpful.

I do have a family plan right now. I just got off the phone with 611 and the gentleman told me that no matter where i upgrade (store, online, wirefly) as long as it was to cingular, I wouldn't have to pay the ETF. So right now wirefly looks like it might be the best deal. I'm just a little nervous about losing my wife's number. She would be royally pissed about that. đŸ‘ŋ But by going through wirefly.com I'm getting the phones for only $139 before $50 mail in. So i save about $110 after mail in. I think it sounds pretty good. Can I get that in the store? I know I sound like a cheap skate, but my wife will kill me when she finds out how much this stuff cost. So I'm trying to lessen the beating I'm going to get from her later on j/...

I still don't think Wirefly will work, the purpose of a migration is to prevent churn. By going through Wirefly you would be creating a phantom churn which would still affect the rates....I understand wanting to save money, but im not sure I would trust that.

Yes, Wirefly would port the number like he is coming from T-Mobile, etc. They do not treat it as a migration. Most of the online companies are that way, based on their contract and compensation. They offer those deals because they get subtstantially higher upfront commissions that do most agents and COR (revenue wise). Migrations are much closer to upgrades when it comes to the revenue generated to the agent or COR. There is very little extra upfront profit to pass onto a customer as a handset discount.

So im right he shouldnt go through Wirefly?!?
...
texaswireless

May 28, 2005, 5:17 PM
Yeah, he would be disconnecting his AT&T without the migration process thereby resulting in an ETF. The resulting commission paid to wirefly would also preclude him getting that ETF refunded. As you stated, it looks like a true churn and Cingular paid a higher aquisition cost versus the migration commissions paid to a normal agent/COR.

The secret is, if they're giving you a new phone number, they are NOT migrating you, and an ETF will ensue.

This thread may be enlightening.

https://www.phonescoop.com/carriers/forum.php?fm=m&f ... »

Has anyone realized that if a Cust wants 1 line at the new 6,000 rate plan it's $199.99

But if that same Cust changes his mind half way thru the order & wants an additional line that same exact rate plan is $299.99 for 2 lines.

How do we explain the $100 difference?????

It's different from what you seek planwise, but be on look out for oddities like this!
