4G...Any time ATT.

So when is ATT firing up their (so called) 4G? 😕
I can get 5 Mbps download pretty much everywhere but home and work. Where it drops down to 1.5 Mbps. So I'm figuring if my speed drops this low now, chances are I won't be in a good 4G coverage area when ATT officially fires it up.
I'm wondering because having recently used a HTC G2, TMO's coverage maybe less but man it's FAST! and it's strong, no drops in speed at home or work. And now with their free phone offer...well. 😳

HSPA+ 4G has already been deployed over the majority of AT&T's network. Mileage may vary by the phone. Is yours 3.6 HSPA capable like my iPhone 3G? Or is it capable of 14.4 HSPA capable like the HTC G2?

LTE 4G is being trialed in Dallas, TX and Baltimore, MD now and will be launched mid year covering 70-75 million people by the end of the year.

att calling it 4G because they need to market against verizon and t-mobile

the actually 4G is still on the final phase in japan

HSPA+ and LTE is really 3G advanced

LTE advanced is going to be the REAL 4G.
It will allow you 1GB download!

Why let technical facts stand in the way of marketing. I like T-Mobile's strategy and I support AT&T piggy-backing on their strategy.

If you're eligible for upgrade you could take one of the 4G models out for a test drive and see if there is speed improvement.

Those would be the HTC Inspire available Feb 13th, and the Motorola Atrix available March 6th.

If you're getting 5 mbps in most areas the network is beefed up in your area, that's above the network average which a little over 3.

Even in the areas where the signal isn't as strong you should see some speed increase.

The atrix is already out. Tested it out the other day. I got some pretty low speeds but the webtop is cool.
