the truth about at&t's new data plans
Its been proven that 98% of at&t smartphone users use less then 2GB of data a month. 63% of that use less then 200mb. I am trying to put these facts to the test, I reset my data tracker on my iphone three weeks ago, I have been streaming pandora for atleast 2 hours a day, I am always updating my facebook status atleast three times a day, plus uploading mobile photos. I watched about 1 hour og youtube clips. Downloaded 15 songs, 4 apps. I have sent 10.6mb, and recieved 165mb.
Since I have been paying closer attention to my data usage I am utilizing my home WIFI more, I am sure this it what at&t wants which will allow more bandwidth for those who arent on WIFI. I dont see my self staying under the 200mb plan, but will be well within the 2gb plan.
I really dont think at&t is going to care about that 2% of customers that use more then 2gb, they can pay the $10 for every gb they go over or just go to another carrier. I have a few friends that use more then 2gb's but most of them have jailbroken Iphones, which is the main reason why they are using more data. I am sure at&t would love nothing more then to stop people from buying Iphones and jailbreaking them.
I know this is going to piss alot of people off, but at&t dosent care. If it was any other carrier I am sure they wouldnt care either.
