Thanks to your dedication to pass health care, which AT&T has official declared a charge of $1billion to cover its costs.....this amount of money will result in pay cuts and hiring freezes.

Not to mention that AT&T has just slashed dealer compensation effective 7-1-10.

Thank you!

Any other dealer principals are to weigh in? Bojmir....where are you?

I haven't heard of any pay decreases for agents, but I just manage a store and have no idea what changes they are going to make on July 1st.

I don't think at&t cutting your pay has 100% to due with healthcare tax breaks being taken away from big business. It probably has more to do with at&t trying to satisfy shareholders interests since success is based on a quarterly basis and at&t using that as an excuse. I atleast hope they didn't pass the blame to Obama when they told you why they were cutting your payouts. That would just be silly.

Polls showing how Republicans are going to do in the next round of primaries.

It's not because of how well republicans are doing per'se...

It's because of how piss-poor horrible Democrats are doing.

With the President leading the garbage from the front.

Taking care of the Oil Spill? nope... to busy pushing talking points about how oil is bad...

Real leadership there.

That's usually how it works, when one party isn't doing a good job, the other party gains favor with the American pubic.

One thing I don't like is Obama intereferes way, way too much with state politics, the executive branch of the government shouldn't interfere with state politics, that's one of the things about this country that makes it great, seperation of state and federal governments!!!

Their is already plenty of regulation... We need proper enforcement of already existing rules. Bribery and coruption needs destroyed...

The crux of the situation... is that this is past the point of disaster, natural or not.

Look at pictures of the oil hitting land... all up and down the coast. It will only get worse.

What has the President done? Beyond spewing talking points about Big Oil?

Where is the response? Where is the leadership?

George W. was skinned alive for taking 3 days to respond... we are *WELL* past that and NOTHING is being done.

I agree. Existing regulations need to be enforced with greater penalties to corporations who are poisoning our planet.

I disagree that the governments response needs to be equal to a natural disaster like katrina for now. Its BP's responsibiity to stop the leak, do an EIS, and clean up the mess. Why should tax payers pay more to clean up the mess when we already give oil companies billions in subsidies.

It's the American Public that is going to pay.

There are few instances where I think the Government should step in.

If a truck wrecks and spills oil on the ground? Sure it'll effect a few people. Not a natural disaster.

Plane crashes? Train wreck? Boat sinks? Same deal... sad to see bad things happen, but not something that needs government help.

This oil "spill" is going to affect thousands of towns... possibly millions of people.

It's not a "natural" disaster, but it is a big enough disaster that it's going to be beyond the scope of a single company to "fix".

The government is going to have to do *SOMETHING*. Bill, tax, reprimand, destroy the company AFTER. Make sure they are held responsible.

To think that BP will be...

Out of those two options...

I would probably choose the pretty face, as I care more about talking and spending time with said person. A little extra weight don't bother me, personally.

More realistically and seriously... I'm more concerned about enjoying my time with my significant other.

While all my GF's, past and present, haven't been 10's - they have all been pleasant to look at. It's much more important to have stuff you enjoy doing together and a basic commonality.

Actually it won't COST at&t a billion dollars. They will just get a billion less in tax breaks. They won't be forking out a billion dollars. They will just be getting less of a handout. Its sort of robin hood-esque. Take from the rich and give to poor?? I know its a stretch.

Here's a peachy story for you.

I have a friend who has leukemia and responding posiively to treatment. He has been engaged for two years but under the old healthcare insurance policies if he actually got married he couldn't stay on his parents insurance plan and wouldn't be able to get coverage and would be un-insured. Under the new healthcare bill he can get married and still stay on his parents insurance plan!! Isn't that a positive thing??

more negatives to *THIS* forced, universal health care plan.

I won't argue about positives of health care (of any form).

I will argue that I don't want the government controling *THAT* much of the economy and *MY* life.

There are better ways to go about it.

Threatening jail time to someone who doesn't sign up for coverage isn't the right way.

Driving up the costs for businesses across the board isn't the right way (Business cost more to run... guess what... less people get hired.)

More importantly... the Federal government using powers it doesn't Constitutionally have... is not the right way.

or

#2) Let the people who do not participate in the system and take care of themselves just die.

The bottom line is that our current system of: Get coverage if you can, but if you end up in an ER after an uninsured car accident we'll spend $100,000 to save your life and pass it on to the taxpayer because "American society values all life" WILL NOT WORK.

That actually still tries to tax corporations.

This is because companies DO NOT EXIST as something to be taxed, they will ALWAYS pass the cost on.

There was no other option but to pass the costs on. That's how corporation's work. Period. You're not taxing the CEO's, so why should they pay out of their own pockets? The government is stupid enough to try to tax a business. How will the business pay? They either reduce their costs (pay less to employees) or increase their profits (charge more for services).
