Question..

I'm needing to upgrade 2 phones but don't want or need data on either line. I'm a firefighter so a nice, rugged phone for me and one with a good camera for my wife. Battery life and reception are key points for both. The Tundra looks like my only option but what say you much smarter people than I? What are our best options. Thanks and God bless.

I thought you were switching to Verizon on March 30th? So why are you asking? Why don't you ask the sprint forum, they have a lot of redneck phones.

Look buttlick, I didn't know I had $200+ in ETF's, so now I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'm simply asking a question should I have to stay with AT&T. I didn't want to bore people with details. Sorry, my bad. Fact of the matter is it's still a fluid situation with either carrrier a possibility. As far as the redneck thing goes, I'm going to let that go because your condescending ass doesn't know any different. Looks like I need to ask someone else. Unless of course someone wants to give me an answer.

Samsung Rugby or Moto Tundra for you.

for your wife it depends on how nice you want the camera to be. Sony ericsson w518 has a 3.2 mp cam and is a great price. If you want a better camera get the sony c905. 8mp camera!....but you pay for it.

Rugged phones in the lineup currently are the Tundra, Samsung Rugby, and Samsung a657.

Sigma mentioned the Sony Ericsson W518a. Although I have not experienced this one myself, I have been very pleased with SE's quality and durability. My W300i is almost 3 years old, and I have never had a problem with it. Am considering the w518 myself.

I really do appreciate the help. I am currently waiting on a call back from AT&T. They are offering upgrades more than a month early and seem eager to work with me. Thanks a lot. It really does help me. Cheers!

Also, if you are a firefighter, check with your city to see if any agreement is set up for IRU (Individual Responsibility User) discount. If not, there is also a discount available for any union member - contact your local for details.

UPDATE>>>

Here's the deal. 2 iPhone 8gb 3G (not 3GS), 450 min/month +100 bonus minutes per month per line for 49.99. Total 650 min./month. We currently have a 700 min. plan and are paying $80/month incl. fees. We will get a 15% discount on the main line basically taking care of the fees. Total peer month, about $110-115/month.

Good deal or no? BTW, I'm thinking of coughing up another C note and getting the 16GB 3GS. What do you all think? Thanks and cheers! 😁

wow, where you get that deal? i did not know they offered 450min plans? i thought 700min was the lowest. so your saying 50 for the talk, and 60 for the required data rates. yeah, i guess that is 110. sounds like a good deal to me. how much are they charging for each phone?

Standard $99 for regular 3G 8gb iPhones. No special there. The real deal is in the plan. They came up with the plan, not me. The kicker is the extra 100 minutes per line each month. SWEET! I also get 15% off the regulat $50 plan, in a sense knocking out those pesky fees that they say they "have" to charge. 🙄 It's a sweet deal. I see refurbs on sale at att.com all the time. Talked with a rep today and he said I could agree to the plan and 8gb iPhones now and come March 30th, my official early upgrade date, I could upgrade to the 16gb 3GS. Don't quite know how just yet but we are going to hammer out all the fine detail come next Tuesday. 😁
