So is this thing even worth it? My phone reception isn't the best at home? How does this thing work? Opinions? Thanks

In a nutshell the device uses your internet connection to emit a wireless signal just like a wireless router. It probably would only make sense if you don't get good service in your house. I believe for like $20 a month you get unlimited calling while using microcell? don't quote me on that price though. The device itself costs money as well.

As of right now...

Device costs $150
Service is free unless you want unlimited calling then you pay $20/month. If you want unlimited calling then you also qualify for a mail in rebate on the device.

What are your thoughts about a device like this?

It costs a little more money but there is no monthly fee.

Anyone every use anything like this before?

My thoughts

Wilson Signal Booster Stats-
$329 for the unit
1500 sq ft of boost
must have signal to amplify
No monthly cost but no option for unlimited calling.

3g microcell-
$150
5000 sq ft of boost
Don't need signal but requires high speed internet connection
No monthly cost unless you want unlimited calling then its $20

My view is that if you already have high speed internet then the microcell is a much better deal.

They are currently only available in select areas of North Carolina. the national launch of the MicroCell has not been announced...give it time, it will be here very soon...

the issue with repeater systems like these is that they are considered a violation of the T&C of your contract and AT&T can legally force you to shut it down and un-install the device...there are 5 customers in my are in Indiana that have been shut down...

These are great fixes if you get the company to authorize the installation...

Why are people complaining that there is extra cost involved other then buying it? Isn't it if you have a plan that's 450 min and unlimited night and weekend with the microcell you just use those minutes same if you were talking while in walmart? Or you can pay 20 bucks a month and can yack on your phone from sun up till sun down and not use any minutes?

Or you can not pay anything extra monthly and have perfect coverage at home.
