Is it possible that it's the Iphone that's the problem, and not ATT's network?. . .

I was reading this article over @ ZDnet's website, and one person said “The AT&T network had problems long before the iPhone….”

Really, the only people I hear complaining about ATT's network are Iphone users, and BB Bold users, that's it. I don't hear people with Nokia phones, or Samsung, or LG phones complaining.

Could it possible be that Apple is better at building Ipods than they are at building cellphones?

Here's the full article that I read, and there's a funny pic of an upset Iphone too.

I think agree with your comment.

I am an Apple iPhone user and I like it, it does a great job for me, I am not a fanboy or anything, the phone just does what I need it for and coming from an HTC 8525, I really like the small footprint of the phone. However, this past weekend I went out of town to a state park here in Indiana where cell phone service is spotty, always has been in this area, but this year I noticed I got 1 bar, where as my friend also on ATT has regular phone nothing fancy to it, I think its a samsung, and he had full signal. We all pretty much used his phone when we needed to make calls. And for my friends on Sprint or Verizon, they had zero cell phone signal.

So I tend to believe it could be a phone issue and not a ...

I went through hell with them as soon as I joined ATT back in July and bought a Black Berry Bold. I even left them at one point, but came back. I have the Motorola karma and get an excellent signal now and great service, no dropped calls. I think the Bold and Iphone must just have problems causing the dropped calls. I wish I had known this to begin with and I would have just bought another phone. Too bad this didn't "correct" the bad attitude of the few customer service reps I had to deal with during the entire ordeal.

I left Att right after the iPhone 3g game out because of bad signal. After trying a bunch of phones and carriers I came back and got the bold. Got three defective models. The rep says "try the iPhone, the problems are fixed". At the store looking at both the iPhone and Bold right next to each other i could see the Bold's siganl going up and down like a heart beat monitor. So I chose the the iPhone 3g and had wonderful service until 3.0 came out. Then it was all bad. I still wonder did Att test the 3.0 at all because the signal is horrible and data connections are not stable even with full signal.

It's just as possible that the i-Phone is causing most of AT&T's network problems. They just weren't ready to handle the kind of influx of high end customers. By the time AT&T is ready for it, i-Phone will be either out of favor or no longer exclusive.

In some respects, this might be true. I use a $25 Nokia 2610 as my kicker phone when I don't want to take the iPhone to the beach or when I'm working outside in the rain.

It does perform better in some areas of weaker signal than the iPhone. But then, it's just a phone.

I had an iphone on At&t. I have used the 2G, 3G, 3GS on their service. I loved the phone but got endless dropped calls and dead-air calls. This was all over Arizona.
I switched my iphone to Tmobile's service and do not have any dropped calls (it's been 3 wks) and voice quality is excellent. This is my experience with the iphone and it made a huge difference not using it on At&t. I still like At&t's service overall but when it comes to this phone I would never recommend it on their network.

My Bold stopped switching to EDGE after I did the software upgrade (the one with VVM) Amazingly, the phone has a MUCH better connection to the 3G network, no dropped calls. Just awesomeness! 😁 😉

heck.. Ive been saying this all along. The problem is that Apple has such rabbit fans and has hit home run after home run that it couldn't possibly their fault. Glad to see people starting to put down the Kool-Aid glass.

I blame apple for this. ITs all part of their master plan. Just think about it. They opened the flood gate for people to switch over to get the iphone on at&t. People love everything about the iphone but at&t(for the most part). So now there are 9 million people who have the iphone on at&t and many of them have stated they want to switch to another provider if given the chance. But what will happen when they do? They will buy another iPhone even though there is nothing wrong with their current one. So now by apple building a superior device with a sub-par radio in it will be able to sell twice the amount of handsets. Their genius never suprises me. Its just amazing. Hopefully the FCC will eliminate the silly exclusivity agreements....oh ya, ...

That's a very good theory...is it possible? Maybe. Remember that Apple doesn't want to go by way of Moto. They have to keep i-Phone fresh. Frankly, I don't think it's possible.

That is a very solid theory. It makes tons of sense, kinda goes in line with their 3 separate launches if you think about it.

The 3GS has nothing that the original iPhone shouldn't have had in it. 3G radio (First one shouldve had it), video recording (first one shouldve had it), MMS, voice dialing, tethering, 3 megapixel camera... The list goes on and on. The marketing guys over at Apple deserve huge raises if they haven't received them already. They clearly know what theyre doing and right now theyre doing it better than anyone else.
