so first off like said before only the 3g iphone and 3gs iphone can have a discount on it ...

as long as its in the persons name that is capable of getting the discount u should be fine ... if u log online look at the top right side of the screen u will see the FAN# that will clarify its active

as for the data plan being discounted when i worked for att last year there was only a discount on phone plan NOTHING ELSE!
so unless its changed since august last year then u only get it on the plan ...

as for the customer service over the phone..... i hate to say it but MOST of them aren't educated on the discounts for some reason they just read a script that is completely outdated and non informative .... go to the store and ask a rep there about it and if u don't get an answer ask to talk to the business manager .... they know there stuff since they deal with it on a day to day basis

and as for this idea that discounts vary from company to company .... that only is true when it comes to a device discount or special deal to the customer ...NO ONE gets a special deal on certain features when it comes to iphones....
