AT&T Service on Long Island NY

I am thinking of switching to AT&T from Verizon, I currently use a BB and was tempted to go to Iphone. My main concern is coverage throughout Suffolk county, could anyone help with specific locations on long island and maybe dead spots (which I know exist with every carrier). I know AT&T is not the same carrier it was 6 yrs ago, but I need some input from current AT&T customers who were formerly Verizon customers at this location. Thanks.

if you go into a store and give them the zip they can show you on a map

I know, but sometimes the maps tend to be vague.

I live in Babylon (Western Suffolk County) and the service is spot on... Honestly, in the 2 years I have had AT&T I haven't dropped a call once... I don't do much traveling but I do go way out east on the north fork (The wineries) and never have a problem there as well. You aren't going to see much difference when it comes to Verizon and ATT (Verizon MAY be slightly better IMO) when it comes to reception but Verizon also cripples there phones and I like the fact that all you have to do is place your sim chip from any phone rather than dealing with an ESN code...
