I am trying to get the iphone and dont have the best credit they want me to put down a deposit for 200. I make good money and dont think a deposit is necessary. Is there a way around this I make 80 grand a year. at&t is the only one that asks me for a deposit. I can get the blackberry storm through verizon for no deposit but would obviously rather have the iphone. anyone have any info that can help me out thanks in advance

if u ask me .....

its $200 dollars and u make 80k a year .... save yourself the hassle and pay the deposit ....
its not like its gonna hurt u much and u will get it back after a year of good payment history ....

now if u are reluctant to get the deposit waived then u will have to jump through a ton of hoops like fax in last 3 months of banking info and proof of identity and that doesn't neccessarily mean u will get a $0 deposit...

like i said safe yourself the hassle pay it enjoy the iphone and make your payments on time

good luck 🙂

Deposits are common with in the cell phone industry. Get use to it and just pay the 200 bucks. Besides there are better phones out there then the iPhone. If you have 0 deposit with VZW go and get your self a BB Bold.

The only thing deterring me from verizon is that I dont like that fact that I have to pay for features most other companies make free to you. AT least and I dont know if it is still the same but when I used to have verizon I didnt like how I had to pay for ringtones or not be able to use google maps. I also believe I wasnt able to surf the net or download things through verizon. The other thing I didnt like was I couldnt transfer files or anything like that through my...

I can't speak for the rest of it, but the Storm someone else mentioned does let you use google maps, and just recently had the gps enabled for use with it.

You may want to look up what you can do with the iphone's bluetooth abilities too... afaict it's limited to headset only, not even contact list syncing if you have more than one phone... (although it appears the storm has these same restrictions too...)

About downloading things, etc. someone else would have to answer...

I had the iPhone 3G. I really look down on AT&T for there 3G service and voice coverage.

They carry the name AT&T which has been around for a very long time. You would think they would be a little more up then the other networks, but there 3G service is not worth the iPhone.

I like Verizon alot. There bluetooth is unlocked. You can make you can download 3rd Party apps to your Storm if you get one. The data is 29.99, but you will need a data plan with the iPhone. GPS is unlocked on many phones on Verizon now. The iPhone doesnt even have a real GPS unit in it.. no turn by turn stuff.

I transfer stuff all the time with Bluetooth.

Every network make you pay for ringtone, unless you make them you self, which you can on Verizon.

You...

Yeah thanks for the reply that infomation does help. I am curious though am I able to surf the net to anywebsite just about and when I say download ringtones for free right now I am on tmobile and I can go on my browser and type in a ringtone I want and usually 9 times out of 10 I can find it and download it for free off of a website. I would agree that I would get better service in my area with verizon. Just hesitant. I'm not too interested in what plan I'm getting cause whether I go at&t or verizon I'm looking to get the unlimited plans. But after this I will definatly give Verizon another look. Cheers

I dont think AT&T allows there Unlimited Calling plan.

When i had iPhone 3G i know i was not allowed to have it.

This may have changed tho, but i know for a fact i was not allowed to get Unlimited Calling.

Plus, Verizons unlimited Calling is better, lol.

Just because you can auctually use it as much as you want, while AT&T and T-Mobile and Sprint have that "Unreasonable Calling" thing where if you use it too much, they will cut it off.

And when I have iPhone, you could only make Ringtone from Apple which means you must buy the song, then buy the ringtone.

some songs are now 2.99 and then.99 to make the tone.

its those little things that can get you.

but, i love my Storm.

MMS, better cam, Video makeing.

but its y...

yeah definate help I do like the looks of the storm too and like blackberries the other downside I see is no sim card which is kinda a big deal to me cause I work on a jobsite I like to have a spare phone that can be my work cell and then just swap out my sim card when I'm not using it. Do you know if there is anyway of doing this through verizon phones I dont think I would be able to whereas I would have to re activate a phone everytime I wanted to use it? I dont know, im pretty rough on my work phones dont really want to test the storm on a jobsite lol

Verizon has made it a lot eaiser to switch phones. A lot faster. like not even a min.

And there is a SIM card in Verizon Storm, but its for when you travle over seas.

BUT, it you unlock the Storm, you can put a T-Mobile SIM in it, use it on T-Mobile, then switch it over to CDMA and use it on Verizon.

I think you can use both services, but as for not unlocking it, and Roaming with GSM in the US in not able to be done.

Sorry.

But LTE is comming up very soon, and this can be done when LTE phones become more popular.

That's what i think. Im not 100% sure on that tho, so don't hold me against that.

I know an unlocked verison would work.

I just prefer Verizon over AT&T.. I did have AT&T from when it was AT&T Wireless, then Cingular, now AT&T.

And I have travled and still do travle alot.

you will need to unlock the phone tho.

Verizon has a lock on it so you can not Roam off US GSM network.

because in the network settings, you can shut off CDMA, but the GSM wont work here in the US unless its unlcoked.

I personally wouldnt worrya bout it.

there are many hard cases out there for the Storm so it will be protected.

If you call them, they will tell you that it can't be done because the GSM is locked for US GSM networks, but prob wont tell you that it can work if unlocked.

VZW won't unlock the phone unless you've had the line of service active with them for the past 60 days (and the account is in good standing)

Also, only once every 10 months unless you had it replaced via warranty, etc. Getting the replacement unlocked does not reset the 10 month counter, so if a replacement phone comes at 9.5 months, two weeks later you could still get another phone besides the replacement unlocked.

o and about the Ringtone Q, i use MyXer Tones.
You upload you song, and pick the part you like and send it to your phone.

But, the BlackBerry storm has a app from CrackBerry (like 6.99) you take songs from your phone, and from your phone make the ringtone and save it to your phone, and its free, and sounds amazing!

I use that now.

I LOVE IT!

There is a reason.

I am trying to get the iphone and dont have the best credit

AT&T's deposit requirements are steeper than some smaller carriers, but the risk increases as your subscriber base increases.

People with no credit history have a $500 deposit. People with seriously awful credit have $750. Your credit is not that bad, but not risk free.

Think of it as an early bill payment or two. It will come back to your account after a year (as long as you keep a good payment history of course).

Well in reply to your nonsense message this is what I have to say to that. I went to best buy the other day and sat down with the dude, Told him I wanted an IPhone and he said ok grabbed it called at&t. He then said to me that they are requiring a 200 dollar deposit for you because of your credit. I said ok well I'm just gonna think about it. I don't feel that I need to prove anything to you I came on here to ask a some questions and get some answers not have some retard post some stupid ****. I have got nothing but smart decent responses from people except you. Now If im making **** up let me ask you this. Lets give you the benefit of the doubt for a second why would I come on here and bitch about a 200 dollar deposit? why woul...
