I ported my number out to Verizon but I want to reactivate my IPhone but I don't want to port the number back. Can I still reactivate my line just with a new number?

First you have to port you number to a GSM carrier and then afterwards you can change it to a brand new number.

So in order to reactivate I have to port the number back anyway? I wanted to keep the number on my Verizon line because that my business number. That sucks.

Nope that response was wrong. Yes, you can reactivate your iPhone with a new number, it may have a 2 year contract and would definitely have an activation fee of $36, but YES it can be done.
