Dirt phone? And this is based upon what exactly? The iPhone was a bug ridden POS when it launched and the 3G didn't improve upon the shoddy launch record.

The Storm is a good product now that the software has been upgraded. Those who disparage a product typically do it either from fear or ignorance. Which one are you?

Maybe option 3.Preference? Perhaps they prefer a phone that is not a big button covered with a touchscreen? 😁 I like RIM, but to suggest all the negative feedback comes from people being fearful or ignorant is just plain arrogant.

I am talking about disparaging a product when you sell against it rather than selling on feature/advantage/benefit.

You can have a preference all day long. When you sell a product talking about how bad it is that selling on ignorance.

If you sell a product, but talk up a competitive product, that is ignorance. I realize you are a VZW agent now, and it's in your best interest to make others believe the Storm is an amazing product. It's all about selling what you sell after all.

As an AT&T agent I have to sell against the iPhone as well as the Storm. If someone walks into my store asking about either, it's not my job to talk myself out of a sale.

Obviously, actual return numbers are considered confidential and not something readily available to the average consumer, and you know just as well as I do that initial sales numbers don't speak to the quality of a device. Both iPhone and Storm sales numbers were strong initially and we both know the iPhone was n...

Mr. Customer, you liked the idea of picture messaging and said you might be interested in the iPhone. Almost all of our phones have picture messaging. In fact the ONLY phone that does not have picture messaging is the iPhone.

vs.

The iPhone/Storm sucks. Everyone returns those phones and they are full of bugs. You don't want it. It can't even do pictures.

I have been selling phones for 16 years. Approach #1 works better and makes you look more professional. You don't sell yourself short.

Come on, you know me better than that.

If anyone selling a phone just outright says "that other phone sucks and they're full of bugs" then I agree, they are not in the right business.

Only the first example is selling against the phone based on its shortcomings. The second example is just an opinion with no supporting evidence.

I don't think anyone doubts that people who say something "sucks" have no sales credibility.

I was just saying that negative opinions can be informed and sound opinions as well. Someone can disparage a product because they just don't like it.

i never went to the iphone i didn't care much for it cause my BB did EVERYTHING i needed .... now as for the 3g iphone vs the storm ...
there really is NO comparision of the two ...

Iphone = consumer device with business support
Storm = Business device with some consumer features ....

both are good devices the problem with the storm is alot of BB users were like YES !!!!!!!!! a BB with touchscreen and i can use it for business with no problems ...

well that they failed to understand is that yes the iphone had bugs and took a while to ...

I thought your post was funny as well. I responded to cellmaster and his dirt comment about the Storm. I would take a BB Storm over an iPhone any day.

And remember Tao, I may now ALSO sell Verizon but I still own AT&T locations.

What bugs are you talking about. The IPhone 3G is probably the best phone the the country do to the fact that when you compare a new phone, 9/10 people will compare the new phone to the IPhone 3G.

Nothing can be all good. The iphone is a killer device no doubt, brought down only by At&t's lackluster coverage. Can't win them all though... I'm curious to see what happens when At&t and Apple's contract is up.

Considering you don't know about Verizon "My Circle" options I am not surprised you completely overlooked the fact that the iPhone launched with bugs.
