Loss of signal problem turns out to be good news.

After trying to call the wife a couple times yesterday while shopping when we finally met up she told me her phone had no signal and she had to reboot it, it then worked fine again.
She said Jenny (our daughter) was experiencing the same problem from time to time.
Since I was near the AT&T store I popped in to inquire about the problem, I thought maybe there was a sim card problem.
I explained what was going on to the guy at the tech desk (a pretty nice fellow who actually knows his job!) and he told me that there have been some lost signal issues happening here and will continue for about another 2 weeks as they are working on the towers here in Flagstaff, replacing the radio heads with 3G equipment. have you seen the 3G icon at all? usually you'll see it here and there before being turned on for good. what phones are you wife and daughter using?

I haven't seen the 3G icon yet here. The wife and I have Nokia N95-3 for U.S. 3G. They work fine in 3G down in Phoenix. Our daughter has a N82, it does not have the 3G bands so she will remain on EDGE. Looking forward to the 3G up here.

I got a text message about a month ago saying that new towers had been activated in my area. but for the last week I've had drop outs here at the house. the 3G icon has popped up a few times within the last 3 months. So maybe it's the same situation for me. I plan to call in to ATT tomorrow and complain about the siganl loss...maybe they will fill me in.
