Price of Rugby
There are currently nine Nextel MIL-810f ruggedized handsets listed on their website, two of which also water resistant. The price breakdown is as follows (all with 2-yr contract):
$39.99 (1 model)
$79.99 (3 models)
$89.99 (1 model)
$99.99 (1 model)
$129.99 (1 model)
$199.99 (2 models)
So $179.99 for the ATT rugged phone is certainly in the ballpark, but the previous poster was WAY OFF the mark with the comment that Nextel's least expensive rugged handsets start at $179.99 and go up from there.
There are a large number (at least 19) of "subchapters" to the basic MIL-810F specification, including ones like Acid Atmosphere, Gunfire, Explosive Atmosphere, Fungus, etc. Does the Rugby meet all 19 subchapters of MIL-810F? No? Then it can't be called "full MIL spec" according to your last post.
The fact is, any manufacturer can self-certify to whatever sub-chapters of MIL-810F they choose to, and then they mention specifically which sections their product meets. Which is exactly what all of the cellphone manufacturers/carriers have done; they state very clearly which subchapters of 810F they meet for every ruggedized model in th...

That is not a high price at all. The previous military spec handsets on GSM were all $600 plus without activation (no carrier offered them but they were available online). Nextel's least expensive ones are about the same price and go up from there.
You also need to look at what was said. I did not post bad info at all. I said their comparible phones were about the same price (you said $99, pretty damn close) and went up from there. If you misread and though I was comparing Nextel to the $600 Gas Environment handsets used in the Oil Industry, etc. then you just need clarification.

texaswireless replied: "If only two of them are water resistant then they are not all FULL military spec. The $129.99 model is the same price as the Samsung Rugby and the other is more expensive. The rest ar...

I guess that is why I understand sales and own stores and you do whatever it is you do when you aren't trolling forums with your Nextel-honk opinions.
If a person can't take the heat of their opinionated or inaccurate posts being corrected with facts and supporting evidence, they should consider not posting at all. Or at least they should not get in a huff just because someone provides accurate information that counters their posted opinions.
And that is correct, I did sum it up perfectly, just not to your liking, and so your hubris and ranting continue...
Probable cause is "PTT envy".
Building a business around this service is limited. Kinda like those litte niche stores in the mall, e.g. "Wanda's Candle Accessory Emporium". 🤣
