AT&T Never Bought Back Cingular....So It's Really Cingular using AT&T Name

I just learned something about AT&T. Maybe a lot of you know this. AT&T is really the old Cingular, they're just using the AT&T name, and giving AT&T a bad reputation.

I had a big problem where the AT&T/Cingular Premier Desk said I could add a 3rd phone line to my plan without having to change. They took the order, gave me a confirmation order number and sent me the Sim card. Once I got the Sim card I was to call back and have it activated. That's when Cell Hell broke loose. It was supposed to be a Father's Day Surprise. Not! After 3 days on the phone with different rep's I could not get the Sim card activated as the management said they will not mix a AT&T Blue with a AT&T Orange, but it's actually Cingular, explains the orange. I tr...

Yes, I bought a new phone on my own, works find. I pay $42 a month for 2 lines with 1000 minutes. To get a new plan with 3 lines and 1000 minutes would cost $80 +. Why would I want to do that when we don't really need 3 lines, just nice to have. Since I get lousy receiption but have stuck it out because of the price I'm paying, if I did re-sign for 3 lines, I would go with someone else who get the better receiption in my area. Alltel, so to be Verizon, gets the best reception, then T-Mobile.

You have received so many notices in your bill it is sick. You really should look at them on occasion. This change happened in December 2004 and it was well documented in both forums like this and inserts in your bill.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

They don't send those notices when you receive you bill by e-mail. I just look at the amount due and when it's the same as last month I know all is well.

Blue and Orange don't mix because Cingular did not want to be roped into honoring AWS plans forever and ever (particularly the ones that AWS doled out at the end to try to get as many people under contract as possible in time for the merger).

So what I hear you saying is the Blue & Orange Sim Cards will work technically on their phone lines ? They just want every to eventually upgrade to the higher prices and make more profit ?

In essence, yes that's right. When Cingular purchased AT&T Wireless (ralph explained this to you in Shop Talk) they took on the customers that ATTW had at that time, including those customers who were not on profitable plans. The bottom line for a company is, of course, to make money. But, Cingular, out of goodwill, opted to allow existing ATTW customers, whether on profitable plans or not, to retain those plans. Of course, in the long term interests of making money (again, the sole purpose of any company), they dont allow those plans to be expanded upon, and place other restrictions on them to eventually encourage those plans to go away. The new ATT as it exists today is not the same ATT you signed up for, therefore it's unreasonable t...

They're not completely interchangeable. Cingular switched to 64k SIMs AFTER the merger, whereas the blue SIMs are all 32k. Still, an orange phone, with its subsidy unlock removed, will usually work with a blue SIM.

now i don't expect you to know this, communists(shown by your lack of capitalism) have a very poor ability to remember the past... so i will explain it to you.

AT&T Wireless (Cingular BLUE) was never part of the original AT&T family it was a completely separate company that purchased the rights to use the "AT&T" name. People have known the AT&T name for years and it has been a household name sense phones were first invented. so people like yourself bought into AT&T Wireless thinking you were joining the largest telecommunication system in the world (at the time) well in actuality AT&T Wireless had nothing to do with AT&T land line.

Cingular was a joint venture between SBC Communications and BellSouth, Cingular Wireless soon acquired t...

they weren't able to give you corp address bc theres like 50 ATT call centers in the us. and not all of them "are" ATT. most of those call centers are3rd party companies hired to work for ATT. so its kind of like person 1 hires person 2 and person 2 hires a group of people to work for person 1. its kind of weird

Corporate Headquarters are in San Antonio. If you really are lloking to contact someone higher up the corporate ladder, go to the AT&T Mobility web site, adn you can find email addresses at http://www.wireless.att.com/about/meet-us.jsp (staff will likely handle your email)
