I am thinking of switching to AT&T. I live in Northern Virginia and travels to other parts of VA as well. I need people to convince me. Please no trolling!

Thanks!

You should ask family and friends if ATT is working for them.

They are the best gauge of your success with a wireless provider.

For instance, i live in phoenix. ATT isnt so hot here. T-mobile is much less expensive and has great coverage.

Your area is should be the largest factor in determining a wireless provider.

ATT would be great if you needed a butt load of streaming video or music downloads, but the 3G service is not available in every area.

Read the comsumer reports for your area. Go into a store and look at the phones.

PEOPLE! I am looking for constructive comments and not "yo mama" comments.

I have asked my friends and family members about AT&T. My biggest concern is dropped calls. I get mixed opinions on that.

Thank you!

I use at&t in North Carolina and it has been great!!!! I rarely have dropped calls and when I do I usually think its because its the person who I am talking to and they be going through a bad area. As a matter of fact, most of my dropped calls are with that person 🙂 Other than that I honestly havent had any dropped calls not unless I was in a bad area. I have had them for 10 months....

Just sign up and try it for 30 days thats really the best advice we can give you. There is no question or answer to determine whether or not it will work well for you without getting a biased or lame response. Just try it out. Now, if you want advice on what phone to get, then you may get more constructive responses.

Bottom line. I have had att for years not and here is the up and the down

UP
1. Coverage second to none
2. Phone selection is great
3. Quality of voice is crystal clear

Down
1. Customer service very poor
2. slow 3G and limited area
3. I recommend getting a non-branded phone as att stripes them down

Thanks!

I have a non-branded phone so I am not worried about that at all.

I guess I will have to find a way to deal with customer service.

Customer service is by far one of the best....

In fact I have gotten my last 6 activation fees waived for customers. I just had a data plan backdated to the previous month to cover 360 dollars worth of charges. I never have an issue with anything I do. Respect them and they will help you. The mistake people make is demanding things over the phone and getting rude which would make anyone not want to help you.

Why do you say they are poor?

does att have any special incentives for customer who have been with them for a long time liek sprint does. ? liek offerrin the customer 10% off the mrc for 2 yr when you sign a 2 yr agreemnt or renew your agreement

No, when you throw in all these customer plans and incentives it makes it that much harder to train customer service reps. They do offer an upgrade advantage program that gives customers with higher mrc a bigger discount on new devices.

Some customer service reps are very rude. Then sometimes you can find some real nice ones. I know at the store here in my hometown, they always have an attitude and are extremely rude. But the store 30 minutes away, I have found two reps to be very friendly. Also, at the kiosk at the mall here, the people are really friendly. I think it just depends on where you go. People always say at&t is high but I get coverage almost everywhere I go and I love that. Plus--rollover is great 🙂

Im not a yeller or a screamer and treat all with respect, after all its just a job and just a phone. I have been treated poorly, most dont know much about the data in fact its rare to get someone who does. They have been less than helpfull and have a tru my way or the highway attitude. I could tell you stories that you blow you away.

From personal experience in Minnesota and Wisconsin, the GSM network has a stronger and more reliable signal than CDMA. I am currently with Cellular One (now part of AT&T). I made the mistake in November of 2006 and switched to Sprint. I had Sprint for three days because I was roaming in my own city! I then tried out Verizon. I thought I was doing well until I placed my Verizon phone next to someone with a Cell One phone. They had full signal, I had half signal. This was the case most of the time with Verizon, so I bit the bullet and paid the ETF and went back to Cellular One. I guess the network was off following someone else around. 🤣
One other thing is the SIM card technology. When my first Verizon LG phone died, Verizon c...

Well my story is this. I had Verizon for years 4 to be exact along with all kinds of other providers like T-mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cell. To make a long story shorter I kept Verizon because these other service providers couldn't keep up reception wise and I live in Chicago which is a pretty big cellular market. All this changed when I decided to try AT&T and go with the Iphone. I immediately noticed much improved signal over Verizon everywhere I travel in the city of Chicago and suburbs as well as much improved signal inside my house. Not too mention the Iphone is much cooler than anything Verizon offers, and please don't say the voyager because I tried that and the signal on that thing was the worst of them all not too mention the touch scr...

Honestly, AT&T is decent. Nothing really fabo about them, but the service is decent they have really neat phones you can choose from and they still kept the Cingular tune but it is now called the AT&T Tune. I like them, they are not bad.

Here's my background. Up until this year I had phones that were on TMobile, Sprint, and Verizon and switched to ATT for the iPhone.

Sprint - Observations, coverage was very spotty outside the Metro DC area but otherwise worked okay. Poor (if any) coverage Internationally (Europe and India).

TMobile - Better coverage than Sprint. Fewest dropped calls of all the carriers I used. Coverage in the metro DC area, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Montgomery Counties was very good, better than all the others. Travel to NY, New England, and south to NC offered good coverage in populated areas but no coverage in places like the parts of the Outer Banks, NC -- south of Kitty Hawk was good. Great coverage Internationally (Europe and India) and good Intern...
