Cingular vs Verizon & ATT in So. Cal

Does anyone have an opinion of Cingular vs Verizon or ATT in Southern California? Of late my ATT TDMA service seems to be deteriorating, with no real help or explanation from ATT, although their customer service people try to be helpful.

Cingular seems to have good plans and phones, but I am concerned about call quality, the size of the network and customer service.

Any input is welcome. Thanks.

I've never used my GSM in So California, but it looks like Cingular has good coverage there.

Cingular received poor customer service ratings a while back, so they recently hired literally a couple thousand reps to bring hold times down.

Cingular has excellent coverage in So Cal. Cali is one of cingular's best markets. They also carry the best selection of phones too... the t616, S305, 3300, SL56, etc. Plus you CANT go wrong with rollover minutes. I think i saw an ad saying they were offering a bonus 500 minutes too.

they have to offer free airtime, their customer service sucks so bad they would not have any customers if they did not give away airtime.

granted i'm a new cingular customer, but so far they have offered me only outstanding customer service, from working with me initially in the store on getting the phone number i wanted to helping me out on the phone with some gprs issues. the reps have all been very, very helpful. (true, cs closes at 9 pm nightly, and all day sunday. could be a distinct minus in the future.)

i'm personally familiar with all the So. Cal. carriers except Nextel. they're all perfectly adequate locally. nationally they're all pretty good too. i think it's all a matter of personal preferences. i wanted a gsm carrier with a large national footprint, cool phones, and i'll be the first to admit that rollover didn't hurt.

verizon was rated best by consumer report. they have the lowest busy signal percentage, fewest drop calls, and excellent coverage. i would try out verizon before renewing with att or switching to cingular. cingular shares their cell towers with tmobile in CA too. just to let u know
