OK...So What's REALLY Going On With Cingular?

Matt, it would be very unfortunate that you'd base your decision on a thread from this forum. A thread issue can be started by anyone, even I can come up with one... It only takes a malicious motive to come here and trash cingular.... Now, I am not saying that the poster of that thread is lying. I'm normally very weary of stories that are long, or that go into too much detail, cuz those are ussually troll stories... But that's just how I see it.
That's a good point. I thought about that too when I read those threads. Even if they are actual Cingular customer complaints, I realize that service issues will vary depending on location. Like I said, I'm just a bit nervous because the most im...

What region are you located in Matt?
I'm in south-central PA near the MD state line. I'm about 45 minutes south of Harrisburg near Gettysburg.

I see strong signal for you there Matt. Which phone are you getting? It matters much more for Cingular than it does for Verizon which phone you choose.
Probably the Sony Ericsson W300i. I might consider the W810i if the price comes down by February.

I would honestly think long and hard about porting to cingular good chance that you'll regret it. Consumer Reports has ranked them second to last for widespread static problems and network busy signals why even take a chance with a company that is ranking so poorly.
I appreciate the input, but I gotta tell you that I lost faith in Consumer Reports a long time ago. They've been way off the mark on too many items lately. I have friends who are on Cingular and they don't seem to have any complaints. I dunno...this is driving me crazy. Cingular would be a MUCH better deal for me because of several reasons, but I've never had a problem with VZW's service. I have a headache. ☹️
Try the Cingular “Pay as you go” phone ($19.99) for two month. If you like the Cingular’s service switch, keep the “Pay as you go” phone as a back-up phone or give the phone to a family member.

Dude, you are talking about switching from Verizon to Cingluar. What are your reasons for doing so?
Well for starters, my wife's phone (provided through her job) is on Cingular. If I switch mine and our son's over to them we will have all free mobil-to-mobil. Right now with Verizon every time I call her we are both using up minutes. I also have a few "key" friends and family members who live out of state but who have Cingular, so it would be the same advantage there. I also really like the idea of Rollover. Since I have no way of knowing exactly what my usage will be each month, I usually buy a plan that exceeds my needs by a little so I don't get caught short. That's happened a few t...

The all phones are on the same network with free mobile-to-mobile minutes.
You can port your number after activation. Even if it costs money, it would be worth it to avoid the headache if you decide to switch back.
Isolated problems exists for every carrier. I have great friends who run stores for all the major carriers. No one is immune.
You have 30 days. Try it where you live and you will know if it is right for you.
You are receiving good information from Cingular users.
Marry Christmas and Happy New Years too you and your family members!
