I suggest perhaps getting an internet capable phone ๐Ÿ˜‰ .. if you really need a fix... or bring in your own lappy and data card.. who knows if your in an office park you might pick up someone's open wifi.. Also sometimes Bablefish works as a work around for proxies..There are also little programs that tunnel out to a network of IPs and tunnel http traffic through.. or you could set up an SSH box at home and oh.. nevermind... ๐Ÿ˜

Here's a thought....if your company's I.T. department blocked your access to places like web-based email and message forums, then it's pretty obvious that they don't want you on those sites while your at work. What do you think they will do if they catch you going there through a proxy? Just because you CAN find a way around it doesn't mean that you SHOULD. I don't know where you work, but I'd guess that surfing a message board isn't worth losing your job.

Sorry if I offended you. It seemed from the above threads that maybe you were trying the proxy site. I was just warning you not to because any good I.T. department will know if you do that. I just didn't want to see you get into trouble at your job.

That's okay. Just like I've seen people ask before if there is a way to get around it I tell them the same thing. Don't get into trouble. I assume if it lets me get in then I do it. Sure makes the day go faster. If not I forget about it for a while. Hopefully I don't get into trouble. Am I being naive?

I guess it depends on your company's internet usage policy. Most companies have you sign something at some point that outlines that policy. It usually says that the company computer (and the time you are on the clock) is for work only.
The way that it typically goes is this: They already know most people will do some personal surfing. Maybe you read the news, check the weather, o...

I'll have to read what I agree to everyday when I sign into my computer. It starts "By using this ..." I'll check right now. But we do not get access to internet ONLY phonescoop we use to get cnn- not anymore.
I'm going to check what I agree to everyday. (So stupid)

Yes. Not only should customers be treated as potential criminals, but employees should be treated as poorly.

Nevermind the studies that show internet access for employees actually tends to make them more productive.
