Unlocked phone on Cingular
I am thinking of purchasing an unlocked Nokia phone and using it on Cingular's network. From what I was told, using the unlocked phone will not allow me to do certain things, i.e. send text messages, multi-media messages and take pictures with the camera phone.
Is that true? Can anyone confirm this for me?
If that is the case, what do I have to do to get it corrected?

You can text message, take pictures and movies, but you cannot send multimedia messages or use the internet functions. The only way to have full functionality is to buy a cingular phone. Hope it helps....

thats not true u can go to nokias website and get the setting sent to ur phone or call cingular and get them to talk u through setting u the phone but its a lot faster to go to nokia

That is absolutely INCORRECT. You can do anything with a non branded unlocked phone as you can with a Cingular phone.

Can you even download things from medianet? Does Cingular recognize what type of phone you have? I have tmobile service and it does not recognized my Nokia N73 so I cant download anything from t-zones but I can still surf the net and do everything else they mentioned.

i have had my 6682 for a year now i got it unlocked from nokia and i have no problem downloading games and things like that and they dont recognize the phone that u have the only way they know is if u tell them

Ive never tried. To be quite honest, media net has nothing that I want to download anyway.

You can use a unlocked or unbranded phone on Cingular , go to www.motox.info for settings for media net , they have good info for you to use .. Good Luck
