Hey is it true that airtime starts being charged before you pick up the phone?

i heard that when my phone starts ringing and even though i reject the call, i am still charged for minutes for when my phone rang?????

Really...VZW charges for the phone ringing?? *looks at his bills* Might explain why my bill is never the same two months in a row.

It would terribly suck if Verizon DID charge for that, I know that Cingular readily sets peoples expectations that they would be charged "send to end" on calls, which means that the person DIALING the call can be charged, even if the other person never answers.
Don't get started in the techincal mumbo jumbo that would come if the person receiving the call was off-network and the call goes to VM, THEN they may see that call on their statement.

the only time this would be true is if you're roaming internationally.

and on some really old plans. new plans, no. when you reject a call it goes to voicemail and you are not charged for voicemail deposits. now, if you have chosen not to have voicemail and the phone rings longer than 30 seconds, you will be billed a minute, or 2, however long the phone rang for.
