LG CU500 vs. Nokia

I know this phone (CU500) is fairly new, but wanted to know the overall quality of this device vs. a Nokia phone (in terms of quality, functionality, etc.). I'm waiting for the 6126 from Nokia (6131 for European model) and debating whether to get the 6126 or CU500 from LG. Anyone has exp. with LG and Cingular? I've had LG with Verizon before, and it was ok. Just didn't like VZW and all their phones....would get hot during use....

Thanks,

Well, the LG has a lot of really tempting features. But, Nokia has always outshined LG when it comes to quality, signal strength, and reliability. I would wait till they both come out and have some feedback from customers.

I'm looking to compare these 2 phones as well. I'm pissed about the upgrade policy though. Anyways, I messed around with the cu500 today, and it was very nice. I've seen reviews where people are saying it gets better reception than any phone they've had, and that the audio is loud & clear. Both of the screens were also nice. The menus were also quick--that's what I look for in a phone. The guy at the store said they've had very good luck with LG's--said nobody comes back and complains about them.

Can't wait for the 6126 to come out though to see what it's like.

The biggest problem with the new LG is that it is a 3G phone. In my experience 3G phones will hang onto a 3G tower way too long before switching to a non 3G tower. This causes poor reception & dropped calls at times (hard-handoff). Hope this phone doesn't have this issue but the two other 3G's Cingy carries does.

I didn't know that. Maybe I'll wait for the whole 3G technology to be set in--maybe another year or so. I just want a phone with great reception and audio quality.

The cu500 is a great phone. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now and have had no problems at all. The interchange between 3g and EDGE is not a problem what-so-ever.

I had a Nokia 6131 and hated it. I don't know if that matters as far as the 6126 goes.

Why did you hate the 6131? Thanks.

I have had both phones & didn't keep either. The Nokia 6131 has an extremely quite earpiece & the build quality feels cheap. The LG CU500 was a better phone. Returned it since it dropped calls when handing off from 3g to 2g towers. This won't be an issue if your area is all 3G. Between the two I would pick the LG.

From what I've heard, the LG CU500 is pretty nice, but as already stated, Nokia makes great devices.
