hello,

i'm about to buy a cingular 8125 with MSFP with a data plan.

My question is can Direct Push run over the unlimited data connect plan or am i forced to get the PDA Connect w/ Microsoft Direct Push data plan?

I was recently informed by a trainer that if you sign up for the media bundle and attempted to use your 8125 with MDP, cingular would note the large amount of data usage and flag your account with intention to terminate the feature without notice. This would mean that you would continue to recieve email at the 1c/kilo rate. This would be a rather chancie and potentially expensive route to go.
Granted cingular reps on here may say different, this is just what i was told in a recent training session for features when this question came up.

That is actually dead on.

MEdianet service has specific definitions in the T&C that state it is for regular handset browsing use only. They can cancel the feature if you abuse the plan, regardless if it is considered to be unlimited.

no no no, you miss understood the question. I was not refering to MEdianet. Cingular lists 2 data plans on it's site one is $45/mo. and its called Data Connect which can be attached to an new or existing plan. the other is $50 that is called PDA connect w/ Microsoft Direct Push and is in the business section of the site.

Would cingular force me to use the $50/mo. plan or will they allow me to use the $45/mo. plan?

I am sorry we do not have Microsoft direct push in our market so I cannot give you a 100%correct answer. I can tell you that the PDA connect plan for $44.99 (stand alone) or $39.99 (when added to a voice plan) will give you unlimited data when used with most other software services like Goodlink. These are very data intensive as well. The possible increase in price might be royalties or licensing fees from Microsoft.

Blackberry does the same thing. $5 more to use their unlimited enterprise plan than the regular PDA connect.

I think thats all i needed to kno. Theres nothing to license from MS b/c the whole system is a 1 to 1 connection. Only thing needed is bandwidth.

I appreciate it tho

You will be fine with the 39.99 PDA connect plan. Goodlink does the same thing. They charge $5 more but you get the same data connection and no one can tell the difference. I have customers on both the 44.99 goodlink plan and the 39.99 pda plan and none have had a problem.
