Cingular is raising the price of the 7 o'clock night and weekends. The individual prices will change to 8.99 and the family to 16.99. The big thing about this is that current customers are not grandfathered in. They are changing everyones prices. Maybe I'm over reacting but this is a big deal. Also Cingular will start charging 4.99 to TDMA customers in efforts of maintaining the legacy system. Just thought I would bring this up, figured it would get some responses.
...
good for cingular. maybe then tdma cutomers will get the hint and either upgrade or go else where. they are not helping the rest of cingulars customers.
and nights and weekends, i haven't heard about. but cingular has such a hard on for verizon and verizon doesn't do it, so it figures.
...
where did you hear this? do you know when it comes into effect?
...
I saw it in Hot Topics this morning. Not sure when it takes affect (sometime in August, I believe). And I agree, the TDMA network needs to die. For the love of god, just die! TDMA customers cause more trouble than I can even describe. 👿
...
Yeah, it's the customers and not the company 🤣
Damn those customers, whom without, you would not be employed.
...
Actually, I'm pretty sure if we lost every single one of our TDMA customers then the company would still be doing just fine. I seriously doubt that Cingular depends on the revenue of the TDMA plans that pay between $5-$10 a month to keep the employees it has.
Geez, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you have a crush on Nikki AND Cingular by the way you try and bring both of them down at every turn. What a sad, sad life you have. 😢
...
I think Cingular does a good enough job of bringing themselves down.
It's that whole mentality of blaming customers instead of recognizing flaws within your organization.
...
Oh no, trust me, I notice the flaws in my organization. I am not only an employee of Cingular, but also a customer (customer first, then jusy happened to land a job w/ them in a call center). I realize that Cingualr isn;t the best, but neither is any other company. But having worked with the customers we have I have noticed that, like all other industries, most customers are complete idiots. This is not the fault of any of the companies, but the fault of the customers. 99% of the world is stupid, and they all buy stuff, so we have to deal with them; however this does not mean that every problem is the company's fault, most of the problems are caused by customers because of their stupidity. Once again, sadly, we have to deal with them a...

It took effect 7/5/06 😕
...
What market is that? Because in my market, 35, it hasn't gone into effect, and there's been no notification that something like this is pending.
...
It would be nice if cingular lowered prices for once to entice new customers. But what is weird is that sprint and t-mobile who seem to give the boat away have the highest ARPU of the carriers.
...
In my market the new prices start July 23 ~ We got the new brochures yesterday.
...
Whats really gonna burn your booties is the new Cingular Upgrade policy to be in effect soon.
...
Have you read this on a Cingular site or on any Cingular job aid? I think you need to move this type of post to the rumors forum because so far it is completely without basis.
...
Texas, I've seen it for my market
...
What about the nights and weekends at 7?
...
Where is this? If this is going to happen in my region I know about it pretty early and I have not heard a thing.
...
it may not be in your market but it will probably happen in the future if it is successfully implemented in the markets affected now
but you may want to talk to your RAE to see if he knows anything about this
...
Which markets are effected now.
...
I just got the new collateral in my store (I'm in Olympia WA) and it's on the new brochures. $8.99 for Nights at 7pm..also 411 calls are $1.80 now.
I guess that means we can't call it 7-7-7 anymore?
Also thanks to my RAE for the the heads up..(sarcasm)
...
I know for sure that Washington DC-Baltimore will be affected
...
I don't think Dan Frequents this forum much.
...
I just got that today. Tex, you should be getting soon. I'm in Lubbock too. Looks like we're all screwed on this one. Mine says effective July 23rd. Let the b!tching commence.
...
mostly the NE markets from what I've seen
...
Its true, it just started updating in CSP, states that the nights and weekends will go to the higher pricing starting mid July, the 17th i think, and everyone on the older pricing will be migrated to new features on their next bill cycle, with the last ones processing through on the Aug 18th cycle, so basically everyone will be on higher feature by aug 18th in the NE markets, not sure if its nationwide, also, Directory assistance is going up to 1.79 (but who cares, does anyone even use that service anymore?)

Tex, Has your RAE finally filled you in yet? I don't post garbage on here. Anything I post is usually straight from my RAE and his e-mails usually have a attachment from Cingular. I think you may need to quit being so doubtful of everyone. Just because other people find out something before you doesn't mean its bogus.
...
Yeah, she has not heard that it is being done in the Central Region. She also has heard, as have I many times in the past, that in select markets they are making price adjustments, up or down, to test pricing options.
You may not post garbage but when you make a generalized post about a topic don't be surprised when you get questioned. Cingular is still a very regional company on certain thngs. Priebe and Sitton can do as they choose on many items (don't remember the third regional President's name, but I am sure Pooky will tell us).
...
Oh, and existing customers will get to keep their existing pricing. Cingular has raised, lowered and changed many things in the past and every time the old feature remains.
...
FloydJul 12, 2006, 3:32 PM
Sorry Tex that's incorrect.
**Existing customers who have the 7-7-7 feature on their account will also be charged this new amount starting 8/18/06. There will not be any “grand fathered” 7-7-7 users. This does not affect any of the legacy blue customers who still have blue plans with Early Evenings as part of the plan.**
Cut directly out on an email.

Gee, you would think you would be capable of heeding your own advice... unless you are a hypoc...

Do you have that on cut and paste?
To date NO ONE has been able to produce this on Cingular's site (internal or external) or via email.
If it is so readily available to everyone why is no one able to find it?

Another one. Losers who have nothing better to do. I have outlasted all of you so far and will with you too. You will give up eventually and find someone else to pester (or maybe just a new porn DVD)

That's fine and grand. Congratulations should you succeed in your lofty goals since I won't be keeping score and I won't know the outcome.
This place needs people like you I guess to accuse others of rumors, bad info, and criticize them for posting so you can post your own rumors and bad info.
Outlasting losers on a messageboard must make you proud. 🤣

I'd listen to tex over ANYONE else in this forum, and this is said after I've perused this forum on a DAILY basis for the past two years since I've been employed by cingular wireless.
Tex is the most intelligent, respectful, and knowledgable person on these forums, and I highly value anything he states.
You, however, temerityboy, I've only seen you on here posting on this topic. And your posts have been so insipid that I don't even find it worth my bother to view your post history to see if you have any other posts on any other topics.
Get a life, and realize sooner than later that Tex owns these forums.

I appreciate your reply.

Anytime, Tex.
Just trying to back up the legitimate posters here to the best of my abilities.
A legitimate poster which you literally define.
Stay true, Tex.

TDMA and CDMA should all die. GSM should be the only operating system.
And as for increase price on 7PM night and weekends who cares. Seriously though, who calls around dinner time??? and if you really need that 2 hours to talk to people then you should move closer to them.
...
🤣
Cingular must be struggling to pay for things if they have to raise the rate on basic services like that.
Those two hours can make a big deal for people with active lives.

this new pricing is posted on the 7/23 brocures. as to not grandfathering i don't know. since its not a promo pricing on the original contract then it shouldn't change.
...
features are different
they're going to change
...
wouldnt it depend on whether the soc cod is defferent or not. if its a new soc code then there would be no change. further more its illegal to charge some one a higher rate without informing them unless its on a promo price such as free RA for a month.
...
is it really? i wasn't aware of such a law... has it been used against the cable companies
...
Cable is none contractual. its month to month.
...
You could say the same for features. This is what I meant when I said they were different from the rate plan.
...
I see what you mean but if you look at the roll out of the new media works, people weren't auto transfered to the 14.99 plan. rather cingular kept them where they were and left it up to cust. to figure it out. granted you could argue that cingular is in it for the cash and they would only make the effort if it made them more rather than a 5 dollar loss. I suppose this will be a wait and see!
...
Everyone is going to get rolled into new plans, supposedly by aug. 18th, they arent going to allow anyone to grandfather in their 7 dollar feature ☹️
...
Hey sangyup81, just wanted to appologize, got an email from my rep about this and you were correct on the none grandfathering. sorry about the disbelief and thanks for keeping me up to date. 🤭
...
I'm not trying to argue i'm just saying that the most likely thing to occur will be the generation of a new soc code to replace the old ones. like with the new media basics and works. You will only have the new options when adding features and customers with the old soc codes will lose them if they remove them.

We've ported more customers this week from Cingular to Verizon than we have in the last 2 months! We appreciate the business, keep it coming!!!
...
No problem. We hate customers anyways!
...
Ive for one have been looking at other carriers becuase Cingular keeps raising my prices like its gas. You would think that will competition it would go down but I guess not.
...
Besides the aforementioned early nights price hike, what other prices has Cingular raised on you?
...
Its not so much about raising the prices but the way Cingualr goes about it so people like you dont have a clue. A year back I had 600min for 39.99 so you would think I could go to 450min for a lesser price, but NOOOO Cingular lowered the minutes for the same price. Theyre good at what they do. Thankyou. And yes I do believe Cingular is always watching Verizon to see how they make more money and then institutes it as one of their policies.
...
was the 600 minute plan national or regional? did your 600 minute plan have free mobile to mobile?
...
Neither does that make a difference. I feel that there should be more plans available and Cingular knows this. I have 1/2 year left and if things dont change im out.
...
Im not trying to be argumentative, but it does indeed make a difference! Unlimited calling to 50+ million people and absolutely no roaming charges anywhere in the US is why the same amount of money got you "less" minutes, when in fact, you're getting more for your money!
...
Regional and no mobile 2 mobile. I still feel i should pay less for 450min.
...
Exactly what prices have been raised on you?
...
Not as much as Cingular hates it's employees.
... one job I have not missed
...
That is something I can completely 2nd!! I worked for a whole 2 months for a Cingular Authorized Dealer. What a crock that was! They didn't give a hoot one way or the other about their employees. Maybe this was just a bad experience from one of their authorized dealers, but a really good friend of mine works at the Cingular call center close to where I live. He has epilepsy, and had a really bad couple days with constant seizures. With all his sick/vacation time he had accumulated, they fired him anyways! He ended up taking legal action, and got his job back, but as a supervisor instead of a CSR. Now, I've never worked in a call center, but my experience with Cingular's call center is that the supervisors aren't any better than the C...

And you think working at a verizon call center is any better? My step sister worked there and absolutely hated it. One day there was a foot of snow on the ground, a bad accident and she was 15 minutes late. They took the late people into a room and threatened to fire them. Now what kind of place is that. The only reason they seem happy is because there is someone next to them at all times holding a gun to their heads telling them to act happy.

You posted this underneath this thread, so I'm guessing you're saying that all these customers are leaving cingular b/c of the early nights increase, yet the increase hasnt even gone into effect yet, in fact, most customers havent even been notified of it yet...hmmm... 🤨
...
Okay, I guess I should explain further for you. Case and Point... Customer came to us from Cingular. She went to cingular to upgrade her son's phone, and that is when she was notified that her account was one that was going to be cancelled due to the new cingular BS of cancelling accounts that use their phones mostly out of the cingular network. Her son goes to school out of this area, and therefore he uses his phone mostly on non-cingular towers. Without wasting any time at all, she walked acrossed the street to us. Maybe it's not directly related to the nights or data plan increases, but irregardless we appreciate cingular's stupidity and are enjoying the boost in our paychecks!!!
...
there's nothing stupid about that
her son is causing cingular to lose money
its the same thing as insurance companies kicking you out
now we'll get to see if verizon will have the same issue

Hmm.... If you say that's true... then why is it that we carry a line on our account with Verizon that is always in extended coverage? Has been for the last 3 years, and for some reason, that line has never been cancelled, nor have we ever received anything stating it would be. And when I set up the account my regional manager informed me that as long as I put in where the primary place of usage would be, and we were paying the correct tax rate for that area, we would NOT have any issues.
My mother and father who have Cingular, travel a lot, so therefore there is a lot of calls made out of the Cingular Network as well..and they're getting cancelled. Cingular calls their network "All-Over". Well if they were THAT "All Over", they woul...

Read the Verizon contract and then read the Cingular contract. Verizon isn't enforcing as strictly for God knows what reason but they still have the same policy.
My guess is that Verizon gets better deals from Alltel and US Cellular than Cingular gets from Edge, Dobson, and those other really, really small carriers.
Now that I think about it, Verizon's roamers do tend to be bigger companies that would be more willing to give Verizon better rates.
