SIM Card Question

My father broke his Cingular phone so I purchased a used one from a friend who cancelled Cingular and switched to Verizon. My friend gave me the Cingular phone and SIM card which ofcourse I really did not need since my dad has his own SIM card.

So here is my question. If I purchased a unlocked GSM phone online would I be able to use this SIM card instead of buying one through Cingular?

Would I be able to call Cingular and tell them I already have a SIM card from a previous Cingular customer that I would like to use with my unlocked GSM phone?

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks

SIM cards can only be used for one number and cannot be reactivated once deactivated.

To answer your questions that you asked....der...... You use your dads current sim card from the broken phone. Slide it into the unlocked GSM phone or other Cingular GSM phone and you are golden. You don't have to call Cingular and tell them anything. Slide it in and make a call immediately. Simple.
