So i have a question... i just recently bought the V3x and in my rush i didnt realize the dorks who sold it to me made a mistake in their description... the phone was stated to be a quadband phone with 850 mhz.. when in fact it has the wcdma 2100 mhz frequency.... i know cingular primarily uses 850.... but.. how big of a risk am i really taking with all these gold sites going up? 😳

P.S...
v3x... best handset EVER

It is a quadband phone with 850Mhz GSM, but not UMTS 850 or 1900. So it will work with GRPS and Edge for voice and data but not the UMTS HSDPA Network for highspeed data.

umm..... no..... i KNOW its not 850... plus UMTS/HSDPA runs on 2 frequencies currently on cingular... i believe its 1900 and 2100 in some areas where hsdpa is offered... specially since the box itself says it so (about the frequencies i mean...) i'm just more concerned about 1900 and Goldsites.... is 850 REALLY that important?

Yes.

The majority of Cingular's network is 850 mHz.

But I think what the other guy was saying is true. I have not seen a non-quad band phone from Moto in a while. And the U.S. does not use 2100 so WCDMA will never work here.
