Gross Adds

I guess the numbers speak for themselves this quarter...

Everyone said Verizon would blow Cingular away with gross adds, but the numbers were about the same.

Cingular and Verizon both reported 1.7 million gross adds...

Cingular's churn was 1.9%
Verizon's churn was 1.18%

They have lower churn, but gross adds were even this quarter... opinions?

I think you meant NET adds were the about same this quarter.
Cingy gross add were higher (as usual) but due to a bit higher churn net adds were about the same 😉

Sorry 🙂 I am doing three things over here lol your right

Do you think this is a turning point for Cingular? That they will begin adding more customers, while pushing churn even lower? (1.9% is the lowest in company history)

Also remember that Verizon doesn't experience Phantom Churn like Cingular does because Verizon has lower upgrade prices than new activation prices.

Cingular is also known for having the most add a line non profitable activations.

What is Phantom Churn? I regularly read these boards, but I am a customer, not an employee...

Thanks in advance.

That's when a customer disconnects a phone and starts over with a new number. Many times the new numbers are under a spouse's name. Many dealers give really good deals to new activations because they get paid over twice as much for activating a new customer compared to upgrades.

Actually the comp plan changed, and new activations are being paid the same as upgrades now for Cingular.

Really?? I thought it was nationwide...

O well... it has good potential to make you more money depending on how you sell.

Yeah but thats a joke in itself anyways!

Here in Florida, they have been promoting the whole "new amazing comp plan" for months and months to employees to boost morale, but when they rolled it out in April, it turns out reps get paid like 1/3 for new acts then they used to! (ex. $59.99 plan = $12, Family $9.99 = $5, and so on with the garbage!)

Whats really bad is how phony all the upper mngmnt were...they were talking this plan up like it was the answer to all the issues Cingular has been seeing for the past year (reps bleeding away profusely). Its all a joke/scam.

DOnt hold your breath for the "new amazing comp plan" thats for sure.

We've been on it the last 2 months, and it isn't all bad...

They are encouraging you to do more upgrades, which is important to reducing churn.

Everyone in my store made about the same if you compare both comp plans dollar for dollar. Yea the $$ per activation went down, but the $$ for upgrades went way up.
