Customer service, customer service, customer service. Let me clear the air here. Yes, there are some downhome idiots and incompetents in customer service. All it takes is a semi-functional brian to get hired on for a customer service position with cingular. However, most are missing what or where the true problem with cingular starts. And this is the CINGULAR TELESALES. Subscribing to service thru cingular telesales is like playing russian roulete with 3 full and 3 empty chambers. You have a 50% chance of getting screwed. Now they are not all liars to say the least, but a vast majority of them cannot be trusted. There have been incidents where they have either sent phones out to people when they did not want them, lied about promotions, lied...

You know, I'm a Cingular sales rep (in a store), and it's sad to say that I agree with you 100%. Telesales is an absolute nughtmare, and let me just tell you, it gets EXTREMELY old having to clean up 98% of their screw-ups in a retail location.

not making excuses here, but as far as Customer service, if you got paid $8.50 an hr to do a relatively difficult job with bad training, you'd give crap service also. Plus Cingular has done away with so many incentives...which is why I quit back in Sept. I was making far more than $8.50, but it still wasn't worth it. too much crap, being in queue all the time, and having to deal with retarded micromanagement. Not worth it in my opinion. I am much happier with my job, getting paid more, and while still having a high responsability, the job is much more tolerable...and I get an entire hr for lunch instead of 45 minutes.

this is exactly why Cingular is terrible now...cause people don't feel they have to be accountable for the issue they cause...all they care about is thier money. I remember when it was AWS, we used to report issues with Telesales and those issues would accumulate and were soon brought up to the rep...i guess they don't do that anymore.

This is exactly why I left telesales at cingular. Put up the numbers and you can get away with murder. Try to be honest, do whats best in the customers intrest and you will quickly find your self on a pip and on the way out the door. Point out reps that are slamming customers and forget about ever moving up in the company because what you have really done is point out something the managers themselves know is going on, ergo they know and arent doing anything about it so they are where the problem lies. Try to get the money you rightfully earned, but the commission payout is screwed up and all they can advise you to do is to sell more to make up for money you have allready earned. The bottom line telesales is a cashcow for cingular and until ...

i completely agree with you. Cingular thinks its a company secret that this crap is going on, but its not. I worked in Care for 3 years, thankfully most of the time with AWS. When Cingular came in, I can't even begin to tell you how many times i would get calls from customers that would complain about thier orders being screwed up. I can tell you though that at my new company along with myself, we've had 5 former Cingular/AWS people come on board and love it here cause the job is much more laid back and each person is held accountable for thier actions. Once you start a ticket, you finish it.

A rep in the plano call center got a $39,000 yes, $39,000 comission check for ONE month. Granted this rep did work open to close 6 days a week, but every last order had no less than 3 lines on it. Call for a family plan with two lines, get quoted a family plan for 3 lines, but told it was only 2 and that you would send them a back up phone they could put in a desk drawer just incase. Free phones? Yes the phones will be free but you have to take the media package for atleast 3 months for the phone to be free. Yes, I kid you not this stuff goes on. And you will here the reps talk about sending out extra phones too. They are referred to as fifty fifty phones. There's a fifty percent chance they keep the phone, there is a fifty percent chance th...
