checking my voice mail

to continue on my strange popping noice thread (and thanks to sangyup81 for your help so far).

this is what happens when I go to check my voice mail. I get the "channel unavailable" message on my phone. When I go to press 1 (voice mail button) i get "Number not assigned" sometimes, other times it will go thru. And finally when I do get thru, the greeting/connection is still choppy, and I get "the passcode you have entered is not valid." Im guessing thats because the line is so unstable and the tones are not going thru.

Also, I noticed that when I dialup for my voice mail, its dialing a completly different number then what I have. I was ported over from suncom. Is this number Cingulars version of my number??

No on a Cingular GSM phone everyone has a one voice mailbox. Your voice mail number is the same as everyone else in your area that has cingular. You can call cingular customer care and tell them your number one key needs to be programmed with the right number.

The number you are having to dial is a voice mail pilot number.
Channel not available...I think you get that error on an LG or Siemens, I believe that is specific to the tower you are using, usually an RF issue. Do you get that on all calls?
A former triton/suncomm customer, usually means you were in a hard to service area too.

i get the channel not available every now and then. I have a LG1400 phone (my screen name is from years ago). Im thinking about trying to get a new phone and seeing if that makes a difference.
