Which carrier is best?

cshlafer

Jan 16, 2006, 2:50 PM
I'm currently with Verizon, but am sick of them on many levels. However, I've heard that they are the best for plans and coverage and call quality. I would like any feedback any of you who are knowledgeable and familiar w/ both Cingular and VZW to provide any feedback you may have.

Thanks!!

T Mobile has better customer Satisfaction then Cingular AND is adding MORE new activations then Cingular so Im guessing if they have 2 cans and a string Cingular must just have the cans

i dont know seattle specifically but i think cing is better than vzw for several reasons,

cing has digital network 🙂 vzw has almost no digital network, meaning its mostly an analog 😢 network

over the last 2 yrs vzw has not been upgrading at the same pace w/ other companies like sprint & cing. so while these others have been investing large amounts of money in their networks & improving their cust care several times over, vzw has only made marginal improvements by comparison

but remember this is general info & u still need to check around in your area, talk 2 people w/ different services get a general consensus & go w/ it

The best carrier is the one the general public chooses. Like Toyota and Honda. The cream is usually found out. In this case its pretty obvious it's Verizon in this country.

Maybe BMW and MErcedes. Both of them are suck recently.

Nah Cingular is Kia and Huyndai.......

Nah not Hyundai they got rated by JD Powers number one ...

Nope Cingular is perhaps Yugo...as in Yugo get Verizon if you want to make a reliable call.

I have Verizon currently and even though there service is "reliable" (meaning that you usually have bars in most places) and they have above average customer service (in my opinion)... they will not go that far to keep you happy and they are boring with boring phones. In my opinion, they are the toyotas of the mobile phone world.

From doing alot of research, with Cingular, it all depends on where you are and what phone you have. For example, if you get a "free" phone from Cingular... good luck! If you have a Nokia, they most likely you'll be fine. I have also noticed that in areas that Verizon doesn't have anything close to a signal, i.e. elevator or inside Robbinson's May (department store), Cingular has a strong reception. My mom has...

What's best for you is what is important. Do both work where you need to have service? That's the most important thing. With Verizon you're limited to what phones Verizon says that you can use. With cingular you can use any compatible phone. Verizon still has analog AMPS fallback. cingular with their GSM plans does not.

True. But most of the phones Verizon has coming out now do not have any analog (AMPS) roaming.
But this is no big deal since I have never even had to roman while using Verizon or lost a singal (besides in Kentucky, where I use my Cingular phone.)

And as far as Verizons phones.. I still think they have a pretty decent line-up.

I think you'll find among phone affionados that most think that VeriZon has a pretty dismal line-up of phones. But then again that's also the case with T-Mobile 🙂 Then again some people are never satisfied. At least with a GSM operator you do have the potential to use any compatible unlocked handset. You're only limited by a specific handset's compatibility with the frequencies used in a given area.

I agree that there is good and bad in every company. My problem with Cingular is I keep geting rude people at customer care and when I get nice people they seem to have all been from AT&T.
I go with the company with the best coverage and calls. As long as you pay your bill they all seem pretty much the same.
Now what I'd like to know is when is an American carrier going to come out with some of the new phones?

As a former Cingular employee, I chose them for service because of their coverage in my area & the rate plans available. Customer Service is a crapshoot - most folks you talk to over the phone are good to ok, sometimes you get a turd (I've worked in cell phone customer service & tech support for a while, & do so now); I prefer to do mine through email, available to those who've signed up for online access. I'd give Cingulr the not in CS overall; Verizon has some good people however the policies are overly restrictive and too much red tape exists that block problem resolution. Cingular's billing is reliable, Verizon (or at least some of the companies that make up Verizon) have notorious histories of billing problems. Verizon's network is bett...

Having worked for both VZW and Cingular, I'll still say VZW every time.

Say you have a problem with the phone and you need it resolved that same day, what happens when you go into a Cingular Wireless store and what happens when you go into a Verizon Wireless store?

Let's compare...

IF you get a good employee at Cingular, they help you call into the Warranty Exchange department for you and go over the troubleshooting with the agent that's on the line. Bear in mind, this is going to also be dependent on the quality of the phone agent, and that's a definite crapshoot. If you have to actually do a warranty exchange on a phone, you get two shipping options: express shipping which takes up to 2 business days for $7.50 and ground ship...

thats your personal experience.

in cingy stores in my area if your phone was purchased there if they have it in stock you get a replacement that day as long as you have all the accesories such as home charger, etc. are on had. and nine of ten times it will be a new phone not a fru (freakin replacement unit 😛 ). like the vzw store. also you dont pay for shipping if you do it by mail. 😳

and just to let you in on a secret when the tech send you home with a loaner phone and tells you com tomorow at 1pm. 🙄 that doesnt mean he fixed it. 😎

Let me just say that I am in no way affiliated with Verizon Wireless

However I dont see how there could be any argument.

Verizon has the best network of any carrier

Verizon has won every award for best customer service for the past several years with the exception of last years JD Power, where they were behind T Mobile by just 1 point. This year Verizon will probably retake the lead tho

Verizon puts 4 BILLION dollars into their network every single year, This is a fact and no other carrier can come close to matching that. The poster who said that Verizons network sucks its analog etc is terribly misinformed.

Verizon is first to come out with almost everything. 3G, EVDO, VCast, Vcast Music, Ringback tones. ETC
