Upgrading from a Blue SMT-5600 to Cingular 2125 & data plans question

I'm still on a AT&T Wireless plan with an SMT-5600, and would like to upgrade to a Cingular 2125 phone (wiht a Cingular plan, natch). My contract period is over.

Are there any discounts available because I was an AT&T customer (for reference, I went online and used the 'upgrade for former AT7T wireless customers' process)? If I could choose, I would choose a 1 year agreement even if it means spending more for the phone. Would I get a better price on the phone (Cingular 2125 specifically) if I went to a store, rather than online?

With the SMT-5600, I had to have a separate PDA Data Plan (I had $12.99/4mb) to use the internet. Are the "MEdia Net" plans (where $19.99/unlimited) the same thing, or is it the scaled down intern...

1) If you have access to a FAN account, then you would save even more. Having said that, you won't save any more by going into the store, except the wait time to get the actual device. The stores don't have the phones in stock at the moment due to Cingular liking to release phones online first.
2) MediaNet is essentially MMode, but you can access literally any site, whether WAP or regular web interface. I have a 6682 and a Treo 650, and I will add a 2125 soon to the collection and I can access any site...
3) You definitely don't want the PDAnet plan since that is way more expensive, really it is designed for corporate users.
4) If you are a light to moderate texter, then you might want to get a text message plan, otherwise if you choose p...
