Its funny becaz all the nokia fanboys claim and hail the mobile company and according to the same people all other companies cant hold a candle to the all might nokia its just funny to me that the v551 outlasted the 6230 and 6820. Im not saying the v551 is perfect but it must be doing something right by not being discontinued.

the V551 is still here due to its cheap price. Both of the Nokias blow away the MotoV551 in reception, features are roughly the same, but are more expensive. The V551 selling like hotcakes due to ordering it through ATT Loyalty team is only $50 !

Usually something is recalled ONLY if the issue cannot be fixed.

The V551 issues were resolved with the software improvements.

I agree, for all the issues Nokia has had lately they seem to be slipping. Granted, MOTO has been #1 in the US anyways, but Nokia isn't going to gain ground here with these issues.

Europe is their stronghold and reason for overall dominance. Considering the more OPEN market in Europe this seems to help Cingular's argument to restrict GSM handsets to only approved models. It is just speculation but maybe that is why they seem to come and go so quick here, lower quality standards or something.

I definately like their phones (the 6682 is VERY nice) but it sucks that I can't order them (heck, I can't even ...

Until I see it and use it personally I don't really know too much about it.

I am not in a position where I can spend too much time speculating on phones. Once they hit the stores (or when I know they will) I educate myself then. Too many times have I learned a new phone only to have it dropped. Not enough time for that in my schedule.

the razr 2 is just a pimped out razr, really. i think that the v3x is a superb phone, and it is a whole new model. its kinda like buying the special edition lamborghini diablo, when the new murcielago is a new model and a better car. both are great, but one is superb.

nokia is by far the best maunfacturer. You have to also understand that Nokia makes good products, they want the product perfect or else they pull it immediately and correct the issue. I work in a Cingular store and have seen several, several models of Motorola be nothing but trouble from the V60i with its pathetic antennae breaking everday, the V220 smartphone with its software issues, poor battery, discounts from bluetooth headsets, the V551's power cycles and call failed /disconnects..Nokia has been stable, with little issues. I have the Nokia 6682 and it is FABULOUS

You have the 6682, yet it has been recalled with issues.

The 6230 was recalled. Another new phone.
The only phones they have not had issues with lately have been the 6010 and 3120, phones which in their basic form have been out for more than two years (i.e. most of the new stuff has issues).

To say Nokia is the best by far is just ridiculous. Sorry but no facts can back that up right now.

Motorola is number one (in volume) in the U.S. and the fact that you happen to see more with issues is because they sell more to begin with.

Do you realize that both of these phones were recalled because of what Cingular did to them?? Get you an unbranded version of either phone and tell me they have issues. You can't. Nokia sells more mobile phones worldwide than any other manufacturer. That's fact, not fiction.

Ok, go ahead and and show me where to get an unbranded version.

Yes Nokia sells more phones worldwide. Nokia also dominates Europe where the same quality checks are not performed as they are here in the US.

Motorola sells more in the US where there are significant quality checks by the carriers "pre-release" (Verizon, Cingular, etc.).

Look, this was just to laugh at the Nokia homers who think they are so much better. No one is saying they are terrible, just laughing at those who think everyone else is terrible and Nokia can do no wrong.

No manufacturer is perfect.

Unbranded versions are offered directly from Nokia, or you can send your Cingular branded to iunlock.com and they will flash it with unbranded software. Problem is then solved. True no manufacturer is perfect, all phones have issues. But Nokia's (if they are unbranded) seem to have the fewest recalls and issues upon release. The reason Moto's sales have increased in the U.S. is because of the success of the RAZR. That was their top seller obviously. I have no knowledge of Moto being the largest seller here in the U.S. (nor Nokia either for that matter, I don't know the stats). I will say that Moto has no equal for the 6682 available on the U.S. market, and IMO, no one does as of yet. Only the dreaded s710 comes the closest, but it isn't a sm...

What does Cingular do to them that causes the issues? Nokia specifically since you site they are better otherwise.

Every Carrier Uses its own software tweaks, that by the way have to be approved by the manufacture, In order to offer there media net and MMS-SMS ,among other things, capabilties with no setup for the end users.

Imagine if they had to do it themselves no phones would be working lol

i think its no different than any other device. Nokia will correct and reissue. I have seen more problems with Motorola than any other product. My Nokia 6682 works great. thats what matters. Even with the software issue with the Nokia 6230 (with the power cycles, self scrolling in the contacts menu) it is still a better phone. I like your comments and many points you are right. I just give my view

But Motorola fixed the V551 issue rather than requiring it to be completely pulled. No one seems to acknowledge that, they just cite that the V551 USED to have issues.

Many many times you have asked "which phone should I get" and "how much will it be", so your bashing of the "Almighty Nokia" is not overly impressive or with much warrant either. You might want to know that the "Almighty Nokia" had nothing with the 6230 and 6682 being recalled. To educate YOU, it is Cingular's software that created the issues. Nokia branded phones of those 2 particular models didn't have the problems the Cingular branded one did. For the record, I have the 6682 and have 0 issues. I repeat, ZERO issues. Find me a better phone, and you can pry my 6682 out of my cold, dead hands. Instead of bashing a manufacturer, do a little research next time.

The 6230 is discontinued due to a software glitch similar the the Moto V600. The 6682 is on a shipping hold because it can't use a UICC card which is the 3G Sim.

true the 6230 was pulled because of software problems.. but the 6682 has only been delayed and will be released mid dec.

The v551 is being replaced indirectly by the v557. Same phone, diff software. The design is a little worn though... it's time for a completely different phone to take it's spot...
