Just curious, does anyone have any information that shows a coverage map for the US as to which areas are the 850/900/1800/1900 bands are located? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Was just wondering how this country is split up or if its spotted areas of different bands.

Truth is that cingularreppy is correct about the actual ability to transmit on those frequencies. The FCC designates what part of the RF spectrum can be used for what purpose on a national level. For instance, the USAF is allowed to use 1.7 to 1.8 GHz for satellite commanding on a non-interference basis with the cell phone industry. Garage door openers are on the same frequency as many new DoD communications systems, which is why many communities are experience less range with their openers. The ITU does a similar function to the FCC for RF spectrum permissions and assignment. That is the technical gibberish side of it.
