I was wondering :

When cingular finally releases its pushtotalk option, will phones they already offer that have the PTT feature work with the new PTT service????
Such as :
im getting ready to update phones, and im thinking about either the Nokia 6102 (which cingular offers) OR the nokia 6170 (cingular doesnt have it, but i'll buy it unlocked).. Both phones list PTT as "carrier dependent".. does that mean that when cingular offers the service i'd be able to activate the option and use my phone? Or does that mean that i'd have to buy one of the new phones (LG, and/or the Samsung d357) that cingular is specifically going to be pushing...?

thanks in advance,
jerry

well any nokia phone that you buy that says ptt won't work at initial launch because nokia ptt works over data and cingular's will work over voice giving the ability to go from ptt to voice call within seconds.

no. the PTT is using a different standard than what is available on any existing models. it may come out as a Symbian application in the future (NOT SURE OF THIS) but that is speculation.

if out PTT service takes off, then you will see a larger selection of those phones.
