😡 Ordered Cingular Svc. & equipment (two SE z500 a's) online in April '05. Loved phone, got great sig. strth., clear comms., no lost/dropped calls, JUST Piss-poor battery life especially compared to advertised. Got fed up with constantly having to charge phones, so, before initial 30 days expired, went to nearest Cingular Store (45 mins. away), and on advice of salesperson, went through the process (via internet & phoning customer service) of changing to Moto v551.

These phones SUCK. Sig. Strth. is still good, don't have to charge everyday, but I have lost/dropped at least 30% of all calls, even when standing still. Clarity of calls is non-existent.

So, how can I get a phone that WORKS, now? Is there any way I can get one through...

Doing a claim will only give you a new V551 though. Didnt know if you got your phone at a Cing store that you had to do everything online after that. Unless you buy a phone at cost online or through Cing you may be SOL but you could always try talking to a CSR and explaining your situation. Although a CSR on this board may have better adivce on that part than I would.

Are you kidding? Don't tell a customer to do that because you know we all know better. The person who sold the phone didn't tell the person the whole situation about Moto V551s - they're being tested for a flaw in dropping calls right now because the latest batches have done poorly. As far as getting a different new phone, calling customer service is the best bet. There's nothing anyone at a store, except a manager, can do as far as exchanging your phone now. Once you've done one exchange in 30 days, that's it & then it's warranty's issue unless customer service will bypass them & let you get a new phone. If they do that, they will probably send you back to the store to exchange.

Let me clarify, I ordered a pair of SE z500a online. Local store could not change phones under '30-day' guarantee "since I did not have a sales receipt, just a shipping receipt", but they advised me to call Customer Service and request a pair of v551's as a comparable replacement. I paid the full rate for the v551's and was refunded the purchase price of the z500's and the difference between the full price and 2-year plan price of the v551's once the return center received the z500's I sent back. So now it sounds like I'm SOL since the warranty (Motorola?) would only replace my piece o'sheet v551 with another v551. Again, ANY helpful advice on how I can get a pair of reasonably comparable, NON MOTOROLA phones, for a reasonable price woul...

Recently, XBM was replacing v551's with RAZR's. You might ask about that.

I spoke with quite a few customers who had that happen. It's an option worth exploring if he calls XBM.

That's because Cingular was on backorder for V551s at the time. It isn't happening anymore. Don't want anyone to get false hope!

ARG Warranty Exchange you will get a refurbished replacement device, the manufacter WILL send you the same make and model of phone UNLESS they do not have that device aviable. IF you want a different device you have to call the manufacter , on the forms for Warranty exchange there is no place to put, customer wants different phone send them a razr for free. if people would only understand.... 😢

hold out till the v557 comes or a comparable phone to that. then call warranty tell them they both got ran over at a frat party (the v551's)or make up a story of your own. tell them how u fell about the v551's and see what they offer. 🙂 😁 🤣 it does work though!!!!

me and my girl have the v551 and we are experiencing the same issues in Harrisburg,PA 17103 (capital of PA) it's understood nokia and motorola have the best reception factor. that's why when our her nokia 3300 music phone got wet and mine got dropped (didn't break though) we wemt with the v551. Warranty DOES NOT cover physical or liquid damage, if the manufacter finds that phone is physically or damaged by liquid then they charge you full cost of the replacement device. Warrently only covers devices defective due to manufacter defect

I am aware of that. My phone was within warranty. No physical or water damage. Just your typical problems that everyone has complained about with the 6230.

🙄 this happens everyday!!!!!!! in cingular's tech department i'd get some of the most dummest reasons why a phone was broken. for example here's one:

me: hello

customer: yea i'm calling to get a replacement phone.

me: what seems to be the issue with the phone.

cust: you dont hear it.

me: no!

cust: my dog is chewing it and i can't get it back from it (puppy or little brother in the background growling and throwing phone around)(SO FAKE!!!!!!!).

WE REPLACED HER NOKIA 3300 WITH AN N-GADGE WHICH SHE BASICALLY REQUESTED. NOW TELL ME THAT WASN'T FACK AND THERE IS MANY, MANY, MANY MORE STORIES WHERE THAT CAME FROM. INCLUDING SOME EMPLOYEE INSURANCE SCAMS. SO IT DOES HAPPEN
